heheheh, you're asking in superDENIM? thats the whole point of this forum, denim!

that said, J. Crew, banana republic, club monoca are all big on chinos and cords no?

haha, well i was thinking about where to put it, but thought that a denim alternatives thread could be good in a denim forum? I don't think i'll cry if it gets moved...

Anyways, chinos are always a good idea... I just haven't really seen any around for a while.. I'll probably wait for them until the spring. I did once have a pair from the Gap though, that were pretty decent.

Another good bet were snowboard pants (i know, that sounds stupid). A friend of mine had a pair of khaki looking Burton snowboard pants last winter, that had a removable liner and were super light weight and wearable without it. Great for the bar - they stood up to anything.

  2. So I was looking in my closet a little while ago and noticed the load of denim in there. Not all of it is nice by any means, but it's 99% of what i've got, other than slacks for the internships. Anyone have any ideas for stuff other than denim? I bought a wicked pair of corduoy a couple weeks ago from a Buffalo outlet.

What do you think? for someone looking to get something other than jeans, what do you suggest...

My Army Brown American Apparel T-shirt.

I'm a big fan of the American Apparel t-shirts. Up until last summer, my city didn't have A.A., so they had to be bought at this silk screener/ accessory store... I've got a small collection of personalized A.A. shirts from the place that I love wearing...

otherwise I've got this Diesel "roller coaster test driver" t-shirt that I bought at least 4 years ago... it's amazingly worn and sooo soft. I'd wear it every day but I don't want to get it dirty, because I'm afraid it'll disintegrate if it touches water or detergent.

I'll post pictures when I get home...

I love the idea of altering jeans yourself if you are able. I think this is just an extention of breaking them in and does even more to make the jeans your own. Some of the best pairs I have seen have been taken in or patched. Like the man said, for 8.99 you can do any damn thing you want to 'em.

exactly... unless you want a twisted seam or somthing crazy like that, you can do a lot of things...

it doesnt always turn out very good, but a bit of practice goes a long way

  5. it takes a little surgery, but I had an old school pair of mavi's with a pretty high rise that a friend altered for me... she lifted the waist, removed some fabric and reattached it...

they ended up being kinda fucked up with a rise that was way too low.... but if it was done well that could be a way to make 8.99 jeans more wearable i think

Hula girl on my left arm...

    Regret it? No

    Have more? Yeah, 1 more

Want more? Yes - a girl to match her on the right... then I'm done

  7. even if it isn't slim enough for you, find something with a pattern or button scheme that you like that fits you and your price...

then go make friends with someone who's a tailor.
