  1. Hey,

This has been driving me crazy, please help. I'm looking for a specific cap, it's a standard fitted or snapback baseball cap. Black, with the letters N and Y on each of the panels in like simple white stencil lettering. The letters are large and take up most of the panel. I believe there is also a version with ATL letters. I don't know if it's a brand or super generic hat but I've searched a bunch on the Internet and could not find it. It's not Yankees or any sports team, just letters.

The closest I could find was this: http://8020.s3.amazo.../723443_1_p.jpg, but it not that.

I've seen in the streets of NY and I'm looking for the all black version (black letter on black hat).

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as it's driving me nuts!

  2. I'm hoping someone can help me. I'm looking for a men's poncho. I've only seen it once in a small pic in a 2006 issue of Men's Non-No. I've never been able to find one in the US or Tokyo or even find another picture of it (since I don't have the magazine anymore), so I hope someone can help me (at least find a picture).

It looked to be made out of wool, and it was much smaller and more squarish/rectangular/assymetrical than conventional ponchos which are more triangular when worn. The model in the pic was wearing it over a white t-shirt, and it looked kind of like a big vest. Anyways, sorry I can't give any more description than that, but if you know what I'm talking about it would be much appreciated.

  3. what do you count as niche?

i dont see why our ring of STREETWAREZ insiders should help u out, u aint ONE OF US

when i say niche, i just mean the smaller, more independent labels. stores/labels like supreme, hundreds, union, bodega, reed space and the brands they carry. if you've ever been to magic, there's like a section for those labels and all the booths look the same, separate from those big fancy booths. that's the niche market i'm referring to. i think most urban streetwear market data takes into account the big players like rocawear, phat farm, ecko, T5S, and stuff that sells at big dept stores.

also i don't know if you're joking or not, but it's funny how you say that and you've been a member of ST for only a few months. if you must know, i'm trying to prepare a presentation so i can try to get some capital to start my own business and i want to include some high level stats. if you're wondering why i don't post more, it's because there's haters on this board that inevitably start making hater comments when a guy is just asking a question. you kinda proved my point.

  4. hi guys,

hoping you guys can help me out. i'm looking for some very basic market data about the streetwear market, specifically the niche market for the smaller independent labels (supreme, bbc, 10 deep etc...) i don't even know if that exists or what to call it. upscale streetwear? i just want want to differentiate from the big labels like rocawear, ecko, etc...anyways, most results from google return comprehensive apparel market reports that cost over $1000. i'm not looking for that much detail, i just want stuff like how much the entire market is worth, how much it's grown overall in the past 10 years and maybe compare different regions? if you know where i could find some basic stats or even if you have some general figures, it would be much appreciated. thanks in advance for your help.

  5. i mentioned in my post that the superfuture maps can be overwhelming and out of date...plus there's over 650 entries for these cities, even if i go through them all i still won't know which places are good or not. i have limited time to shop so i was hoping people could just give me their top 5 favs...

  6. Hey guys,

I need some advice. I'm gonna be in Asia from Oct. 29 thru Nov.19. I plan on going to Taipei, Beijing, Shanghai and Tokyo, visiting family and seeing the sites. It's the first time I've been back to Asia since I was like 8 yrs old, so basically I consider myself an Asian virgin (errr…that doesn't sound too good). In any case, it will be a pretty jam-packed trip and I want to make sure I make the most of my limited time to shop for clothes. Can you guys please recommend some stores/brands that are unique to the region? Stuff that isn't readily available in North America. If you could just list your top 5 "must-visit stores" in any of the above cities, it would be greatly appreciated, and it will give me a good starting point since supercities/supermaps can be a little overwhelming and sometimes out of date. Stuff along the lines of Visvim, Neighborhood, etc...It would also help if you could briefly mention why you consider each of them a "must-visit". Recommendations for restaurants, clubs, tourist attractions are also welcome. Also, if anyone happens to be in any of these cities during this time and want to meet up for drinks or something, feel free to PM or get at me via myspace (www.myspace.com/youngsev)

Thanks in advance for your help, it is most definitely appreciated!

P.S. I've got places to stay in China and Taipei, but I plan on staying in a youth hostel in Tokyo, anyone had any experiences with hostels in Tokyo? Sketchy or a good look?

  7. When i first read the topic titel i immediatly thought of those nigerian people with pet hyena's. I am not really sure whether the African warlords have an specific style or aesthetic but even if they have, are you going to find out on the internet? or in movies? even if you did, would the information be relieable? and even if it was would anyone buy it? i mean, assuming you are no Ann Demeulemeester. Even if you were wouldnt it ruin you to make such 'USE' of something that is actually really really Terrible?

    anyway about those pics, i found the ones i had seen and i just love these pictures;

    nigeria14.jpg

    nigeria3.jpg

    nigeria9.jpg

I wonder what Beckham was doing there..

these are some of best pictures i have ever seen, i had no clue about hyenas. thanks!

  8. englandmj7 -

tweedlesinpink posted pictures of dead babies knowing full well that is not what i was asking. i was only being as defensive as people were being accusatory.

as for why i'm interested in the pictures, it is for no reason in particular, i was just curious about the aesthetic. i think it's because i must have seen a picture or something on TV that piqued my interest awhile ago, and i've been unable to find anything since. believe me, if i found enough stuff on my own, i wouldn't be posting on a forum saying "any help would be greatly appreciated".

bottom line is i was looking for clothes from a very specific group of people. not traditional African tribal clothes, not dashikis, not military uniforms. I tried to be as specific as possible so people could understand.

and despite you thinking "i'm missing the point", i believe there was a post made recently asking for pics of kim jong-il's sunglasses and i don't think anyone made even the slightest fuss about him being one of the world's most notorious dictators and basically a serial killer. where were all the comments then? instead there were comments made that he's the most stylish despot in history and people referring to him as kim jong "ill". so for someone to say to me "get a fucking clue" is kinda hypocritical.

  9. Ok, everyone needs to stop jumping to conclusions. I said I was looking for pictures of clothes, and then everyone started turning this into a socio-political argument. I did many searches but didn't find that much and was hoping someone could help. FYI, I'm don't want to put pictures on a tshirt, I'm not dressing up for halloween, I'm just interested in seeing pictures of the clothes that's all. That does not mean I support genocide, or civil war, or blood diamonds or whatever you're trying to insinuate. But while we're on the subject, I am curious if you guys get just as vocal when people wear military style clothes (M65 jackets, camoflauge shorts, dog tags, etc…) The United States, England and Japan have been some of the most violent states throughout history, causing numerous civilian casualties all over the world. If someone were to ask for pictures of a US Navy peacoat, would you have the same reaction? I highly doubt it, in fact you guys probaly own pieces of military inspired clothing and don't think twice about how many innocent civilians the US have killed. Are you offended that many Japanese streetwear labels are military inspired as well? Did you know that W) taps refers to "double taps" a term for shooting someone in the head twice to make sure they're dead. Are you guys freaking out about that? I don't think so. Have you guys protested the fact that people are wearing shemaghs as a fashion statement when hamas and other palestinean groups are known to target civilians? I didn't think so, so stop being so self-righteous and hypocritical.

Furthermore, many governments in Africa are some of the most ruthless, corrupt and violent in the world and many of the militia groups oppose them and are trying to overthrow them. So I don't know where you get off saying I may as well be looking for pictures of rapists and murderers or dead bodies, since you know that was clearly not my intention. I said I wanted pictures of the clothes, don't twist it as if I were asking for anything else. Maybe everytime someone wears aviator shades you should show them pictures of napalm victims.

Lastly, there is a time and a place for political debates, and a fashion forum is the LAST place for it. It's like one minute you'll be commenting how nice someone looks in their $500 jeans and then the next you turn around trying to condemn someone with your holier than thou opinions on the state of the world. It's like trying to discuss religion in a porno forum, what's the point? This is why the world doesn't work, someone asks an innocuous question like looking for clothes, and instead of helping, people feel the need to voice their opinion, go off topic and try to prove a point that they're better than everyone. If you gots pics, post 'em, if not then don't. What do you hope to accomplish by insulting others besides stroking your own ego. This is the mentality that starts wars in the first place.

You want to help? Stop fukkin buying clothes and spending your day posting on a fashion forum and go to Africa. At least I'm man enough to admit this whole site is trivial and materialistic, instead of frontin like some political activist.

    And yes…those hyenas are ridiculous.

  10. you got lots of ca$h

haha, like i said, these items were accumulated over a month or two (maybe more, don't remember)...and most of them were purchased on sale or i got a good deal. the only thing that was a splurge was the ndg jacket.

  13. I'm looking for pics of African rebels, guerrillas, freedom fighters, gangs, warlords, specifically their clothing (not military uniforms). not sure if anyone knows what i'm talking about, think lots of greens and yellows, mesh shirts, mesh gloves, camo pants, red berets, sleeveless leather trenchcoats etc...i haven't been able to find much. the closest i could come was finding clips of "lord of war" and "lost" on youtube, but they're not that great...

any help would be greatly appreciated...

  14. i was able to find out some more info on other message boards. apparently these are supposed to drop when the G.O.O.D compiliation cd comes out sometime in the fall. the G.O.O.D crew (Kanye, Common, John Legend, Sa-Ra) is supposedly doing a new campaign with LRG. there is another colorway of this hoodie in black and gold.

anyways, since a lot of people have been asking, i finally decided i would put these joints up for sale in an ebay auction, along with some other stuff. remember, i only have one of each, and as far as i know, these are not available to the public. they may never be released or released in different colorways, or with modifications, who knows? if you're interested:

that is NOT visible from the exterior.

  15. I copped these hoodies at an LRG sample sale. Does anyone know if they were ever officially released as part of a collection? I haven't been able to find any info on them. i.e. when they were released? Are there other colours? I know Kanye was sponsored by LRG a few years ago, but I never heard anything about a G.O.O.D Music collabo

  16. good suggestions everyone. however, another good way to lose weight is to do a sport. it's more fun, you can meet cool people, and you can learn a skill.

i suggest boxing, muay thai, brazilian jiu-jitsu or my favorite, MMA (mixed martial arts) which combines everything. you will get in shape real fast. fighting shape, not just beach shape. you (and your girlfriend) will definitely see the difference.

also, you will be learning something which might save your ass someday.

plus, these martial arts are very, very deep, especially brazilian jiu-jitsu. you can nerd out with BJJ just as much as you can with jeans.

    anyways, that's my suggestion.

Hehe, thanks for suggestion mizanation. It's funny because I actually trained BJJ for a bit a few years back and lately I've been meaning to start again, however I just find myself procrastinating. After I'm done work, I'm so mentally and physically drained that I can't find the motivation to do anything, let alone roll around the floor with some other sweaty dudes. Anyways, I know I gotta stop making excuses for myself and jump right back into it. There's a great gym near my place where georges st. pierre and david loiseau train at.

  17. I've got kind of a strange situation and was wondering if anyone else has had to face a similar dilemma. Basically over the past three years, I've put on quite a lot of weight, more precisely, about 15-20 lbs. I've gone from a versatile size 32 waist, to a size 36 and an even more disturbing size 38 for dress pants. Needless to say, such rapid weight gain is very distressing. I believe there are a couple of factors that have contributed to this, and they all started around the same time about 3 years ago and those are 1) I got an office job, 2) I moved out of my parents house, and 3) I got a girlfriend. All of those things coming together at the same time is a recipe for disaster, like the perfect storm. I've been eating loads of junk and fast food and haven't been physically active because I'm so exhausted after work. None of my old clothes fit me any more, and they're collecting dust in the closet and I've had to get a bunch of new gear to accommodate my new body. I've had to go from M to XL to hide my silhouette, even a size L AA t-shirt makes me look like a sausage. After peaking at about 190 lbs last month, I made a commitment to myself to lose weight, eat healthy and become more active and just generally take care of my health. I've lost a couple of pounds so far and am fairly pleased with my progress thus far, although I wish the results would come faster. I'm trying to get back down to 172 lbs, but meanwhile, I've spent a crapload of money buying all this new clothes in XL and size 36 which I probably won't want to wear as much if i got back down in weight.

In any case, I was just wondering if anyone else has had to deal with massive swings in their weight, and how it has affected their style, wardrobe, life etc...

    FYI -

    A. GOODFOOT IN MONTREAL IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE

    B. RANSOM IS OPENING IN MONTREAL IN 2006

GOODFOOT / RANSOM / NOMAD - have most of the brands you are after. Why not try something new? Think of a new route to go? Why jock other peoples business , you will not be able to do it like those guys.

--- Original message by msg on Jan 15, 2006 09:18 PM

msg - where did you hear that Ransom is opening in Montreal? from what i hear, goodfoot are known to 'squeeze' out the competition.

as for the brands, i wasn't trying to jock anyone's business, in fact quite the opposite, i realized no one was doing the upscale streetwear game in montreal, so i saw an opportunity to be one of the first and only players. if there were already a bunch of similar stores here, then opening a shop never would've even crossed my mind. i just listed a couple of brands to give everyone an idea of the type of stuff i would like to stock, of course i understand getting access to those brands is a whole different issue.

anyways, i said from the beginning that i respect what Union NY is doing. it's a small, simple looking shop with dope gear. same with ndg, although the atmosphere is slightly more pretentious, even if the people are mad cool.

and from what i've seen, nomad is looking real nice too. that would be the kind of vibe i'm going for, because it's a little more upscale.

i respect supreme and enjoy their gear, but i wouldn't want to have that 'skate shop' vibe. i doubt 14 yr old french skater kids in montreal are eager to drop 2 bills for a pair of selvege denim and unlike new york, montreal doesn't have an abundance of japanese tourists. besides, having a 'skate shop' atmosphere wouldn't really make it stand out from the dozens of other skate shops in montreal and kids would just be confused why i don't carry volcom.

stores like union, odin, ndg and nomad, although they may be heavily influenced by skate culture, they don't have that 'skate shop' vibe, they just seem like boutiques. especially when they're shilling stuff like $500 prps jeans or doc marten boots and skinny ass trenchcoats.

anyways, i was just trying to paint a picture by throwing out some brands and stores so people could get a better idea where i'm coming from. i do realize that a lot of the brands i mentioned wouldn't go together, but i'm not an idiot, i wouldn't have a store that looks like a complete train wreck. i still maintain DH, NDG, APC, NBHD, Rogan could all work very well together (and yes i understand DH does not want to associated with those brands)

i'm still trying to figure out what to do with my life, so keep the comments rolling, they're much appreciated.
