  1. Interesting that you mentioned Henry Duarte, because that's immediately came to mind when you mentioned dressing rock stars. It's a shame that the quality of his denim has declined so drastically. I think a lot of his shit would look dated at this point, but the cuts, and craftsmanship were so unique. Does he still have the spot in Melrose he took over from that women's designer, Liza Bruce? He popped up in Paper magazine this month, so he must be around still.

  2. I just wondered where you were able to find Helmut Lang jeans still in stock? I don't see them in stores anymore, and have essentially given up on buying jeans altogether in the wake of his absence from design. Would love to snag a couple more if they're still around at a shop.

  3. Oh, I see what you meant now when you attached my quote to your message. You thought I was calling the entire thread, "dress like a jackass page". I can assure you that wasn't the case. I suppose I should be more careful considering how easily context can get lost here. I was responding to the link in Minya's post, which was titled, "Do you dress like a jackass?" I have nothing against blazers at all. Aren't they one of those indispensable items of clothing?

  4. I could be mistaken, but I think the humor in the pic posted came more from the whole ensembles they put together (along with the captions), as opposed to someone wearing a blazer. Come to think of it, the guy wasn't even wearing a blazer, but rather a car coat. When did I post something that said I only wear jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers everyday?

  5. I would stop into Steven Alan and check out what he has in stock. All the pants I've ever picked up from his shop are nice and slim fitting. He's also had an e-commerce thing going for a quite some time now. Might be worth checking out.

  6. Good call on that, skecr8r. I didn't realize that denim was part of Simon's arsenal so early on. It would be wrong to call him the, "first" to do good jeans. I guess I'm just a little partial to Helmut Lang, and it will be sort of shitty to see him totally disappear from the radar after so long.

  7. Actually, The Sander/Simmons thing is new. He may have "taken over" as creative director back in July, but unless you're part of his design team, you haven't seen what he's got in the works for this coming season. His shoes haven't even gone on sale yet, have they? As for Helmut lang, do you think he'll ever find a way to make it back to designing clothes again? I see a lot of bickering back and forth on here about the coolest new denim labels, but he was the FIRST to do great jeans, cutting them slim and simple back in the late 90's. I really miss his vision, and menswear just isn't the same now.

  8. I'm not really sure what the big deal is either. They are great classic jeans, which hold up well, but they've only been around since the early/mid nineties. Sure, they've added a few new cuts, but why are so many people just discovering them now?
