  1. i will confirm that the denim is very stiff- stiffer than nudie redline selvedge jeans and much heavier too.

i bought a pair of the red "osaka ban" jap floral print ones, worn about 10 times and still stiff as.

the denim is definatly top grade and the weave patterns u will not find on ur everyday raw selvedge jean. though the 700AUD price tag is a turn off. ps the box is nice too lol

    peace

  2. go to aplace called rex at citic plaza, and sogo i think. they have 3 stores up now.

find all ur limited range shoes and big labels such as Y3, evisu etc havnt been there for about 2 years though - im sure its got better

  3. i work at a tailor and i study fashion design myself,

usually when taking jeans in you take then in from the side (inside or outside leg) which has the less elaborate stitching (usally inside leg)

but its depends on the quality of the jean. this is because duplicating a french seam is pretty hard for beginners. or if u have selvedge denim then the outer leg is written off (dont wanna loose that sexy selvedge) (also you wont have the chainstich)

i have a few pairs of cheaper jeans which ive taken in and its been a simple inside leg taper then just over lock the seem to keep it neat and from freying. if you dont have an overlocker then u can zig zag it.

also on heavier denim domestic machine struggle to do hems properly(folded twice) coz it gets too thick.

general rule of thumb is - if the jeans are cheap then just do a home job if there expensive and u like em lots then take them to a tailor or just leave it.

    hope its helped

  6. hey

firstly, id like to say awesome site and forum ive been following it for over a year but just reading and not posting.

im a very ambitous 18 yr old who is doing fashion design next year. i am currently applying for a travel grant to japan to persue my intrest in fashion which may include an intership, work experience or study. (currently im in australia)

i do not see myself staying in japan for long ie less than 2-3 months but i want to get everything i can out of such a short time.

does anybody know any insitutions/shops/design houses worth contacting? as i have to provide some detail of my proposed agenda before i can apply.

    any input is appreciated

    thanks in advance

    Yang
