  1. I don't know of the ones you mention but

I have been to the melrose location of which they

own and purchase all their inventory and is looked

at as the more revered location then there is the

santa monica location which actually rents space

out to some vendors under the fred segal roof.

This may have changed in the year since I've been

but they are both a lot of fun to check out and I

always find things I like not to say I could afford

but something new is always to be found.

  2. Those Arc'teryx gloves have no insulation to speak of

but are windproof and will keep you relatively dry

Townie glove or spring use only. Not warm per se.

I sell Arc'teryx and I'd skip the gloves from them

everything else they make from harnesses to packs

and outerwear is the best imo but the gloves fall way

short compared to whats on the market.

  3. Pendleton product last for ever and is one of the best american made wool

products you can buy. They go way further back than the 80's in fact they

have a retro 60's line that was big in the surf seen back in the day. I have

had them all my life and have a few from my dad he had in the 50/60's

they look like they were made yesterday.

Not feeling the red/black but like most all their other color combos. Just

stay away from the southwest/indian blanket stuff.

  4. Stussy went through a sellout stage way back. I sold the stuff

in the late 80's and we stopped carrying them cuz they went to dept

stores. It happens all the time especially in the surf industry

some come back others are to far gone and create sub-brands

use their same resources and contacts and boom their back on

    the seen. Just Biz.

I don't mind Macys but I do mind the chains that are trend whores

that buy brands for one season and drop them once it's not red hot

and don't try to build a long term relationship with the small guys.

Granted if the next seasons product is crap then oh well. Just Biz

  5. Head to the MOUNTAINS

Some unique shops not the norm in the city

    Vail-Gorsuch ltd

    Breckenridge- Primo Outdoor

    Aspen - Boogies

    Edwards - Ptarmagin sports

Their are numerous other shops in each of these towns

being that they are all tourist destinations but a tour of the

towns and the views beat a day shopping in the city any day

    Have fun!
