    Hi everyone,

I recently purchased this classic sport coat with nice detailing at Nordstrom for $495. I wore it once but found another coat I want more.

This coat is unaltered. Worn once for a few hours so officially "pre-owned" but I would also consider it "new without tags." Color is deep navy, almost blue black. 100% virgin wool. Kissing buttons (see photo below). Ticket pocket. Double vented. Nice stitching around lapels and pockets. 17.5" across chest. 26 1/4" length. 24" arm. Selling for $445 shipped (US only). Will negotiate shipping to other countries.

  2. so i'm a short guy (5'6") and my inseam is about a 28 or so. obviously i look ridiculous in 98% of all the shorts sold at the gap, abercrombie, etc. seems my only option is to buy dickies and cut them off, but i don't want to have ratty ends. i can sew them, but i'd rather just buy nice ones from the start that aren't NBA length. Those Marc Jacobs look rad, but I'm guessing they're also well over $100. are there any affordable options?

  3. the ones i posted are boring as fuck. the one from benetton had nice modern angled cuts, nice herringbone pattern, and 70 or 80% wool. it was one of the nicest coats i've seen this year. if i had a photo of it i would post it. being that i don't i figured i'd take "the closest thing" which really aren't that close.

  4. already looking at one coat on this message board. others i'd be interested in (or something along these lines):

g-star ward p coat (black wool) - small

g-star military jacket (black wool i believe) - small

spiewak nunatak duffle coat (brown wool) - small

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm trying to pin down a men's Benetton mid-length wool coat that was in stores earlier this winter. It's gray herringbone, single-breasted, and diagonally cut pockets at the waist. I originally purchased a 44, but it was slightly too small so I returned it. I need to find this coat in a 46.

Here's a photo of a somewhat similar (but nowhere near as nice or detailed) Kenneth Coal coat:

If anyone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.

The 27's i tried definitely had at least a 34 inseam, not sure if they were 36 but they were pretty long. People have discussed this before about the discrpencies between the sizes, with some people claiming a certain size to be much tighter then others are claiming. Like someone said its probably APC going through growing pains in their manufacturing process.

inseam is 34 so a tall skinny person could definitely fit them. Probably someone up to 5'10" - 5'11" now that I think about it. APC definitely needs to do a better job communicating their sizes including saying sizes x-y have a shorter rise (4 buttons) as opposed to sizes a-b which use 5 buttons.

but the new standard has 5 buttons though. your idea of what a low rise is/should be seems to date back to puritanical times. i would then guess the original standard is 6 button?

actually counted the buttons on my 27" new standards. only 4. i knew i wasn't crazy thinking they were low rise. anyone know the lowest waist size they carry with 5 buttons? i'm going to put the 27s up on ebay. just a tad too tight. if anyone out there is 5'5" - 5'8" and <135 lbs these jeans are for you. unwashed. still don't smell at all.

haha. good point. maybe the rise is just much smaller on the smaller sizes? i'm guessing the rise is longer on the 32" waist than the 27".

that is the purpose of the original standard

interesting. the sales guy on the phone was adamant that i not purchase the original standards because they weren't a very "wearable" jean. i would definitely categorize the new standard as low rise. anyone out there want to trade a 28" waist for my 27" waist?
  10. well i've had these for just under 3 months now. creases, fades, etc all progressing nicely. stretching still seems to be an issue. I'm hoping that 3 months is the magic time period like most people say. still seems tight in the hips and crotch. the waist is perfect though. weird.

thinking that the rise of the new standards should be about a half inch to an inch longer.

  11. i was hoping someone would say that. i just put them back on, and i can already tell that i can't go any bigger in the waist. i figure riding my bike in these every day for a month or two should get them sufficiently stretched out in the thighs.

now, next question. given that even a 30" inseam is typically a bit long, how much should i hem these so that when i finally wash them and thus shrink them, they won't be too short?

  12. sheesh, i've read this entire thread + style forums and i still have no clue whether i should size up from a 27 to a 28 or not (my normal size in most jeans is a 28). some people say the new standsards stretch a lot, some say hardly at all. some say they strink to a size too tight, some say they hardly shrink at all, and if they do you can easily stretch them out again.

i'm guessing i can stretch these out a good bit because i'm an active person, but i don't want to see them shrink back to their regular size after i stretch them out. A.P.C. - if you're listening - this is way too complicated. tell us what size to buy in each cut (how much they tend to stretch/how much they tend to shrink) & how much to leave if we need to hem them.

  13. just got my new standards today. size 27/34 (i typically fluxuate between a 28 & 29 depeding on the brand). the new standards are only slightly tight so i have room to stretch `em out a bit. here's the thing i'm pretty short (5'6") and have more of the athletic type body than the straight-up skinny type body (138 lbs)- so they look a little weird on me. from reading the thread it seams that the rescues might look a bit better on me, but on the website it doesn't have any rescues in a waist smaller than 29". i'm afraid that will be way too big on me given the sizing issues. any suggestions with a.p.c.'s offerings before going with the more expensive nudie regular ralfs?
