  1. Hey there,

At the end of November, I'm heading to Seoul to pretty much eat my way through the city, from street food to fancy restaurants. Any recommendations? And which neighborhood would you stay in if all you want to do is eat?

  2. In mid-March, it looks like I'm going to be in Dubai for a weekend, and—ridiculously enough—I'm going to be on a budget. Anyone know of any affordable-but-cool hotels? (Or good layover deals?) Restaurants or stores that rock but won't blow my wallet out of pants? I think it might be tough, but I believe it's possible!

    Cheers,

  3. A couple weeks from now I'm spending a whopping 11 hours in London—at night! I fly into Stansted around 7:30 and fly out of Luton the next morning at 6:30. No point in getting a hotel for such a short stay, so I'm wondering: What's the best way to pass a long January night in London? Where would you go to drink, dance, shop and do whatever else can be done in the dark?

(And perhaps the most important question: Anyone know where I can stow my damn suitcase till I need it again?)

  4. Hi there,

I'm going to be in Barcelona the weekend after next, and am trying to get to the heart of the city's legendary trendiness on a relatively low budget: $500 total. Got any advice on shopping/eating/drinking/clubbing/entertainment deals? Would love to eat El Bulli style (but cheap) and get some cutting-edge footwear (but cheap). A challenge, I know, but therein lies the fun...

    Ciao,

  5. Hi,

I'm writing an article for a large travel publication about "experimental travel" and experimental travelers—people who choose destinations for unusual or random reasons (e.g., only places that start with the letter 'Z'), or who engage in odd or quirky activities while traveling: photographing mailboxes, or applying for a driver's license, or simply pretending to be from a silly place (I have a friend who, on a visit to Baltimore, pretended to be from Manitoba, and sang Manitoba-themed songs at a football game).

Basically, these are people who, for whatever reason, have decided to put themselves outside the usual categories of traveler: Tourist, Backpacker, Adventure Traveler, Food Tourist, Danger-Seeker, and so on—they don't fit into any of these, and their stories are unlikely to involve such traditional topics as sightseeing, museums, etc.

If you consider yourself an "experimental traveler," or if you know someone who is, please send me an e-mail at [email protected].

    Cheers,

    —Matt
