  1. Serge & Minimal, thank you for your input! I think I'm burn out on consumer homework. Luckily (though unfortunate for my meger savings), I'm certain Ms. Gus wants to see a red Cartier box. It's a toss up between a ridiculously priced ring and a proposal in Paris with a bread tie. Amazingly, both of these are equally appealing!

What's your budget? Unfortunately, this will pretty much determine your options. I'm interested in Laylah Ali, Mark Grotjahn line drawings, Francesca Gabbiani, Christoph Worringer, Simon Periton. These are just a few artists names I can see from my desk, as you would expect, there's a lot of art floating around right now.

Assuming you don't do these things already and are at all interested in doing them:

Walk around Chelsea or browse gallery websites. Check out artnet.com and galleryguide.com to get an overview of gallery locations and their programs. Walk around Williamsberg and the LES as well, there's art everywhere in this city (and most cities!) for every budget.

You unfortunately just missed the Armory, Pulse, and Scope Fairs in New York, but it's almost time for the spring auctions. You can preview most lots in person prior to the sales.

Go to the MFA open studios at art schools in the city, some have auctions, and you can also meet young artists willing to sell their art directly.

  3. I'm slowly sorting out ring options as well. If you're in or near a large city, auction houses are a great resource for antique rings. There's a massive learning curve as far as what's what, but there are really beautiful and interesting things to be found at every price point. Check Christies, Sotheby's, Doyle, and I'm sure there are other jewelry/estate houses in most cities. Good luck and congrats!

  4. I popped in to the NY sale a few times. As expected there was a lot more stuff at the start, but they seem to be re-stocking the men's shoes as there was new stock each visit - still some Jil Sander, Costume National, Trovata Vans in reasonable sizes last Monday.

I bought a Paul Smith suit for $300, the same suit I paid full retail for last fall in a different color.

I didn't see any interesting jeans, pants, or jackets, but I didn't look too hard. I did notice a bunch of Levis Premium jeans, but don't remember details. Good luck!

Thanks gus. Though i knew about them already.

I find it hard to believe that there is only 3 online stores in the world who stocks cdg. Browns, Yoox & Aloharag..

Ofcourse, i've found some stuff on Heatwave, and i don't doubt that theres tons of japanese stores that carry the brand. However, there are so many bad things that follows.

    1. Most of stock is small and medium. I need large.

    2. I don't understand shit of japanese, is there no stores with a english version?

    3. As a result of #2 i can't figure out shipping-cost.

    4. Japanese sizes, aren't they smaller than european? For example, japanese large equals european medium?

As said before, i'm going crazy... Save my day, people!

Oh damn, sorry about that - here's to paying attention before posting!

Incidentally, I just walked my dog by the cdg store in New York because my dog likes barking at the dog that's sometimes in the Balenciaga store up the street.

  6. Apologies if this is posted in the wrong place, I dropped off five pairs of Miu Miu jeans/cords size 30, PDC slim size 30, and a load of other clothes to Housing Works thrift store on W 17th near Sixth Ave. I don't know how long it takes before they hit the racks. Just wanted to give a heads up as I think Housing Works is a great organization and usually has nice things for sale.

  7. Barneys seems to be carrying Acne now in the Co-Op section. Were these always near $300 jeans? There were also loads of washed Regular Ralf washed Nudies (and maybe some washed black Slim Jims I only saw a few pairs) in the sale pile.

Downstairs, Paul Smith suits were $679, Helmut Lang suits (your last chance) were around $800, and Dior Homme was marked down considerably, but they don't seem to carry too much. Anyways, most things are on sale and there are still things to buy and not just size 54 in purple and yellow.

And H&M sells baby clothes, that's brilliant.

  8. I think Futura's cover art was a huge part of the appeal (and probably the trainspottery) of the Mo Wax label. Those early DJ Krush sleeves were beautiful. Those UNKLE guys got a little old, but so had Mo Wax by then.
