  1. I tried both the NYC levis stores and neither of them has this jean in a size above 34 :( My normal size is 36 so I'd probably need a 38 altho I could also make due with a size 36 and just wear them during the initial soak.

I'd be willing to pay a finders fee and shipping from anywhere in the world (EMS!). Thanks!

Sent you a PM! I may be able to help you out...

  2. Just bought a pair of jeans from the new Levi's Eco selvage line of repros. From what I've heard, these are basically the same as the 1947's but are made w/ organic cotton...

Does anyone here have experience with these? Namely, in terms of what the best pre-wear soak method is?

I've read that a hot or warm soak is the best way to get most of the shrinkage out of the way...is this correct?

    Anything will help...thanks in advance!

  4. This isn't a big loss. Like someone posted, Wiley isn't that great of an MC.

He is a HELL of a producer though. If this 'retirement' gives him more time to focus on his production, then I'm all for it.

  5. ya do it. but instead of detergent, just do clean water at the end, and change the water half way through the soak. Just so you dont have a lingering ocean smell. Someone did this and let them dry with the ocean water (tg?) and said they had to wash them again after the ocean wash because of the horrific smell.

Make sure you get before and after pics. and tg even had an animated during-wash .gif

I think you might be referring to me. But for illustration's sake, I rinsed my Rescues in fresh water after soaking them in tropical waters and grinding sand into them. After leaving them to dry for a few hours, they reeked of a smell somewhat similar to (yet 10x worse) than wet dog.

  6. You missed one. There's a washed selvage jean in a Carpenter cut that came out as well.

They seemed really cheaply made to me. I tried them on and when I took them off, one of the buttons on the fly broke right off. Never seen anything like that in my life.

  7. Please PM/email me if interested. Free shipping in the US. Thanks!

    *** Descriptions ***

    1. Rescues (W34 L32...waist is more like a 36 or so due to stretching): Worn for approx. 8 months until a seawater rinse. Frequent washings afterwards. They have faded nicely and have developed distinct honeycombs. There is a small patch of wear on the left knee that's not quite a hole yet (I think it adds character).

One more note: I had the tailor use the original hem to preserve the wear marks so the selvage line is broken somewhat. I guess this is only important to those who cuff.

    Price: $140

    2. Evisu (W38 L32): These are from the Evisu Main Line (they are selvage). Bought in London. They were one-wash in their original state but haven't been washed yet. Worn around 10-12 times.

    Price: $300

    3. Diesel (W34 L32): I got these a few seasons ago. They have a realnice, grainy/gritty fade going on. The flash on my camera makes them look brighter than they really are.

    Price: $100

  8. What was the cost?

It was only $18. I thought it was a pretty decent price considering I had jeans hemmed that cost around $20+. But then again, that was in the Marina.

I remember asking the tailor in the Marina if she did chainstitching and she said that only factories had those machines. Haha!

  9. ...and they look great. He did a superb job with the chainstitching. Quick turnaround time too - got mine back in 3 days.

It's funny - Jaime asked me what the big deal was w/ chainstitching and why I wanted it in the first place. I told him that I've heard that it's a stronger stitch than the normal one and he said it wasn't true. According to him, it's only stronger when used on softer fabrics...not denim.

Anyways, I've included some pictures of my Ironhearts pre and post-hem. As you can see, the post-hem quality is on par with the original.

  10. What do you think?

I wore them practically daily w/out washing for around 8 months and attempted the 'seawater wash' as advised on the card that came with em.

Man...it was fun to rinse them out in warm, tropical water while rubbing it with sand but the aftereffect was....revolting. After rinsing them in fresh water after the seawater, I laid them out to dry in the sun at my hotel room. When I came back later in the day, the jeans straight up REEKED! They smelled HORRIBLE...something akin to wet dog smell X 100 mixed with puke. No lie! They were so bad, I had to wrap the jeans in a plastic bag on the way home and the smell still permeated my suitcase.

Haha..memories. Anyways, since then, I just throw them in the wash whenever (delicate warm wash) and in the dryer.

The other pair in the pictures are APC English cuts that I picked up at Homme et Femme in the Shangri-La Mall in Manila. Just wanted to show the contrast.

Sorry about using Imageshack. Can anyone PM me and give me tips on posting pics? Thanks!

  11. i wear a 38 and just pick up a 36 usually. with rescues i picked up a 35 and they've stretched way too much, like 22" x 2. i just bought Nudie SSDS off of FOS5 and they were snug at first, but after half a day's wear, i can already feel them stretching some. especially the thighs.

i gotta check out selfedge if they have bigger guy sizes. it gives me a reason to leave good ol' SD for the bay.

Self Edge's jeans cap at size 36 or 38 for most brands. Only Iron Hearts go up to a size 40.

  12. I'm heading to Boracay (and Manila) too at the end of this month. My first time to the PHI. Any tips would be more than welcome.

By the way.. do you people pre-book the flight from Manila to Caticlan airport? Or do you just go to the terminal and buy the ticket on the spot?

You should pre-book. I don't think you would have a good chance to catch a flight if you just bought it at the airport.

    Also another important tip:

Make sure to be wearing SHORTS on the boat ride from Kalibo (the dock you head to after arriving at Caticlan) to Boracay. You will be disembarking from the outrigger boats a couple paces from shore and in almost waist deep water. (same goes on the return trip)

It wouldn't be pleasant to get your jeans soaking wet right?

  13. If you go to Boracay and want to stay away from the touristy crowds and whatnot, try booking a stay at Club Panoly. It's an awesome, secluded little resort with it's own 'private' beach. Great people working over there too.

    I highly recommend it: http://www.thepanoly.com/

As for shopping/clubbing...check out Rockwell, Shangri La for high-end shit. Greenbelt too.

I have a bunch of friends who are into throwing parties/club nights over there...look for anything thrown by STEAK Productions. I guess you should check their website for updates on events in January: http://www.steakproductions.com/

Let me know if you need any more tips!

You must be talking about Homme et Femme in Shangri-la Plaza huh? That's where I got my pair in December.

  15. Just bought it about a month ago. I've worn it 3 or 4 times tops and decided that I like the fit of my Rescues more. I am going to get pics of it on here asap. PM me if interested.

p.s. For those detail/quality-oriented folks out there, this pair is made in Tunisia (not Macau like the current ones are).
