I'm also interested in similar info about the style eyes brand as well

  5. the shit is whatever

i could care less who bit who or anything else, the only thing that matters to me about a t shirt is that it looks dope and its funny. I don't believe none of these ideas are original anyways so its basically whoevers shit appeals to me most is whos I support.

as far as business goes though, you won't sustain yourself as a business selling t shirts in a trend driven market because the barriers to entry are minimal

its all whatever though, why be mad because you can't find any cool guy t shirts? a 20 dolar T shirt is like the least patr of any thing I wear as far as I see. t shirts as a fashionable item are always pretty stale

"The mental of the roots is beyond any computer, judge, prosecutor, or drug distributor" - Black Thought

I can't really hate on anyone for ruining zoo york because I never cared about zoo york, but lets not place the blame solely on marc ecko, they sold out by even trying to become involved with him at the time they did, when he was trying to market his brand to the mainstream as opposed to his core, and thats their fault. If they had been so true to their origins they would have never sold in the first place, or kept going hard trying to remain exactly as they were under the ecko umbrella, neither of which they did. Those guys either played themselves or played their core audience. A prime example to prove why they did this would be LRG. When those guys cut their major deal they just took what they were doing and made it better, with the help of more advanced production and better materials

comparing ecko, to phatfarm, rocawear, and sean john, basically shows that a person has no knowledge of what echo was like back in the day, because the companies origins are vastly different from any of those mentioned as far as artistic and classic streetwear inspired roots

  12. Echo's streetwear based roots fit more closely in to their origins and their production between say 1996 and 1999, probably when some people here were too young to really even be pickig out their own clothes, or before they even listened to the hip-hop. So many of the items that echo made during those times are almost exactly like items taht have been released by supreme, and many other streetwear companies in the past 5 years. They used to make their own box caps back in 97/98, They made parody football and basketball jerseys in 98 before supreme released their throwbacks in 2002-2003, They were making very technical cut and sew pieces, such as anoraks, ski jackets, and so on durnig the time period. They were doing cut and sew before many current streetwear lines were doing anything besides t-shirts. They were also doing branded promotion t-shirts for brands like the roots before supreme and alife were diong similar items for the Wu, Diplomats, and public enemy.

This was all happening while streetwear brands such as stussy were only selling in pacific sunwear. I can't really speak too much about those brands before say 96, but I definetly can say ecko was doing everything current streetwear brands now are trying to do. Every person here who wears LRG because they like the designs and construction, or was wearing it a year or too ago and stop because it became too popular and switched to streetwear would have been wearing echo in 97-98-99, because LRG is basically an exact replica of what Echo used to be. CUrrent ecko cannot be compared to old echo at al because it has been dumbed down, but anyone who can really participate in this agrument would be able to reference clothes produced during the mid 90's or else you really can't speak on how streetwear became what it is today, you'd just know what it is today

  14. chicks are gonna do what chicks are gonna do, why even try to break it down, why even care. They like attention and you're giving it to em right now, so its whatever, they are kinda succeeding with it. if a person wants to say how much they can drink or put up their nose, all thats whatever, I'll believe it if I see it.

The question I have is do ya'll really read peoples personal blogs? I definetly check ones that have information on them about companies, items, and market trends but there's really nobody in this world I care enough about to read up on their super-ego's feeble attempts at self-promotion, and I don't toatally agree with you stylistics, a person can be as beautiful, pure, in-tune, and anyting else, but bottmo line, the vast vast majority of blogs are very self-promotion orientated, whether to attempt publiscize a product, service or just what a person what wants the world to think of themselves

  15. I dunno why someone would cheer the possible death of ecko. Dude basically paved the way for a vast vast majority of streetwear. he was the first person to really bring innovative and techincally advanced construction to urban or street based fashion.

maybe the stuff never appealed to some people personally, but they were either too young to know what ecko was in its heyday in the mid to late 90's, or simply were never interested in the market ecko targeted.

bottom line the company can be considered one of the fore fathers of streetwear, because the current streetwear market is very similar to what ecko was doing when they first started 10 years ago, and again why would anyone care whether someone they never knew failed or not

  16. It's pretty nice. I'm a huge fan of cashmere hoodies, and the style of contruction on that, with the reinforced ribbed hood is real dope.

I'm not a huge fan of the color scheme, or particularlly maharishi's bonsai camo pattern, but if you are thats wasup, but it's cool.

as far as it being better or worse then bape, it's all a matter of opinion, because they are alot different. Different base fabric, different camo pattern, and so on

  17. its dying in the sense that it's no longer cool to people trying to be new and different for the sake of being new and different

as for the general public of street inspired clothes I expect to see it for everyone for the next two seasons

  19. Too call that brand hollow is a blasphemous disrespect. I'm in no way a fan of their clothes, in fact I generally don't much like 90% of everything I've ever seen them put out (sidebar: which shouldn;t offend them, because I'm the so-called anti-Scotty who probably wouldn't be considered the target market), but their clothes are clearly a representation of themselves, and what they would like to see on clothes. I can't claim to know them personally, but just through the extremely easy access to themselves via their blog and website, it is blatantly obvious that they are serving themselves as the core consumer.

I'll address several points of evidence

The fruitbowl Shirt- Making a T-shirt to comemorate a fucking T shirt. Who does that? Not me, not Gycci, not Bape, and of all things to commemorate a fucking fruitbasket? who would have done that but them?

The Hundreds hat- sure plenty of people do parodies, but these guys are from cali and decided to flip the old school starter script hat in clasic raiders colors which I'm sure was obsiquios to them at one point or another in their lives, Maybe you could call that far from ground breaking but it clearly came from their own heads and hearts so it cant be "hollow".

The pitbull shirt.- a T-shirt of the graphic from BTTF 2. Who the fuck wants that? not me. I never even realized that Biff's hoverboard had a graphic, and I definetly never thought anyone would care if they did at all, and especially not enough to buy a T-shirt with the graphic, but the Hundreds did and put it out there. Hollow is a Shirt with th jumpman on it which means nothing beyond the desire to be associated with a past-it's-prime sneaker line, not this shit

Paisley hoodie- Again nothing groundbreaking, but the fact it only cost 80 dollars said a lot. they could have charged quite a bit more for it in the current era of net-streetwear dominance and yet they didn't, which also says something. Every other company in the genre from jersey to japan is charging $50 to $500 more then that for similar items, which they could have easily done, and yet they willnigly chose not to, which makes a statement. A persno could argue that that doesn't matter because every brand is over charging and even 80 is too much, but no shit, welcome to planet earth, where the waters dirty, the airs poluted, and everyones trying to take your money, and thats that, and the hundreds decided to be slightly different,

people can argue that the hundreds aren't that original, or that they aren't inspiring, or amazing, or interesting, which can all be true dependnig on your opinions and tastes, but bottom line these guys do not make a hollow brand by any means, because they represent themselves and every else who cares about the particular things they do.

as you can see I've given far from a rave review because I'm not a huge fan of their products, but I respect what they have done, and what they are trying to do even if I can't relate to it
