  1. I purchased these jeans at Self Edge in Los Angeles last spring, and wore them 1-2 times a week through August. At that point I set them aside, and have not worn them since. Beautiful denim, but ultimately the cut wasn't working for me. Here are some things you should know:

-leather ID patch at waist removed (not into labels...at all)

-one initial cold soak after purchase before first wear, and NEVER soaked or washed since

-hemmed to 34" by the folks at Self Edge

-present approximate dimensions: waist 32"; inseam 34"; width at leg opening 8.5"

-condition: excellent, no stains or tears, any creasing has not been faded in, slight fade at kneecaps

Basically, these jeans are still at the beginning of their life and need a good home. Paid over $300 but am asking for $150 (for some new APC's--will trade if you have some NS in sz 31 like new...)

  2. This is a pair of Tim Hamilton denim jeans I bought off an SF'er a while back. Here's the page:

or search "hamilton" in the supermarket. Culturalmulatto bought them new, and they are still unworn and brand new. I'm selling because they don't fit--very narrow in the thigh and calf. Originally paid $185 but I'll let them go for $100 ppaid. These will never fit me--I just need to make back something. Again, this is unworn and very nice denim, very tough, but don't expect them to stretch much. Measure 8.5" across the thigh, 7.5" across the calf 33.5" across the waist.

  3. Bought this denim jacket hoping I could work the slim look but it's just a tad too fitted in the chest for me. However this jacket's awesome. Snug in the sleeves, it fits more like a denim shirt. The denim is f*kn great--slubby, streaky, soft. Labeled size M. Made in Japan.

    Chest: 19"

    Sleeve: 28"

    Shoulders: 17"

    Across waist: 18"

    Length: 24" (not including collar)

Looking for $250 (won't cover what I paid but maybe someone will help me out?)

  4. Very cozy dark olive knit cotton zipis very very soft and smooth. Design is simple, no prints or tacky stitching or whatnot. large ribbed collar, foldover cuffs, one interior pocket. Sweater is brand new, never worn. Fit is cropped and slim, meant to be snug. Here are some measurements, laid flat: chest 19"; shoulders 15"; sleeve 29" to end of unfolded cuff; collar 5.5"; length down back 23". Asking $50 postpaid. Pix follow:

  5. the NS should feel snug but not tight (there's a difference). if they are so tight you can't button the fly and it makes you look like you have love handles when you don't, then that's too tight. your balls should not be bulging at the crotch--that's also too tight. you should be able to open your legs when you sit without feeling like the crotch seam is about to split open (although because the cut isn't contoured there should be at least some resistance.) The thighs should feel snug, because when the waist stretches out it's the fit around the thighs/ass that prevents the jeans from falling to your ankles. in the end, the goal of the fit is that they sit on your natural hips (hence the low cut) without falling when you walk.

  6. You know your body the best. Chances are if you suspect slim jeans will not flatter you then you're probably right. You probably may be able to go with a straight leg, but not "size down" as much as some of the sf'ers here. Anything tight fitting will add weight to your upper body. I second the slight flare on the bottom, for visual balance.

  7. Banana Republic using raw denim excites me about as much as International Male using raw denim. Seriously, their menswear now is so f'n bad--so poorly designed, so poorly executed, so lacking in vision. There was a time several years ago when they used a lot of decent textiles--merino wools, cashmeres. You ould flip a tag and see: Made in Italy. They totally went down the shitter.

  8. The Classic is baggier. Personally I'm not a fan, the cut doesn't flatter me (6', 175lbs). I picked up a pair of Italian cut and to my eyes seem more "normal." I have a pair of APC NS and I'd say the Italian cut is closest to that--a much more defined arse, straighter legs and with only a slight taper to keep them honest.

  9. Minya--I probably couldn't force my forearm through the pant leg, let alone my legs. But if you want pix I'll send them. (settle down--i mean pix of me not my wife)

I was on the fence about how the pocket should sit on the hips when it comes to denim. I think Rogan was the pioneer of this kind of cut (with slash pockets) and I think he manages to make it work when the denim itself is conservative and not overly fussed with. (pic below of my white rogans with slash pockets) Menswear is more conservative than womenswear, and of all menswear denim probably THE most conservative in terms of how a jean can be styled and still seem like a jean. Given that, I'm actually impressed with the R & B cut. That kind of dressier cut could go so much worse (and probably will). On my wife, the slight flare of the pockets gives the denim a more sophisticated feel without going cheeseball. I think on a guy with a darker denim is very nice.
