  1. They are pretty roomy in the thighs. I wear a size 29 in these sized down one. The waist was so tight I couldn't do up the top button but the thighs still had a bit of room. Not a lot of room so as to be baggy, but they're not skintight. They're basically roomier up top, and then really tapered from the knee down.

  2. I remember seeing pairs of these a few years back, maybe even 3-4 years ago. The model I saw used the same grey-ish, streaky, really uneven woven denim as that old pair of limited edition "Svenska" model straight-leg Nudies that came out around the same time. Aside from the denim I wasn't too into the jean itself. Pretty basic, no-frills jean IIRC. Had a slight boot-cut silhouette, and was pretty baggy fitting but not in a way that I particularly liked.

  3. Yeah, you seem to be right. Just looking at the measurements provided on that site you posted, the PS is almost just a slim straight-leg. All the measurements per size indicate that it is sort-of just a scaled-up NC or intermediate fit between the NC and NS.

Rise is higher, thigh wider, hem opening all slightly larger than NC. I was always under the impression that the PS was a skinnier jean than the NC for some reason, but I guess not. Not sure what fit you're specifically after, but the NC is pretty skinny, especially if sized down.

  4. The LE weird guy seems to use the same denim as the high-end Rampuya/Momotaro stuff, and the price seems roughly in line with that. A lot of the detailing on the LE N&F's is also different than their regular models. Construction is closer to most Japanese denim companies. Hidden rivets, different hardware, chainstitched hems, etc. It even has a croc skin patch and comes in a special box with a laminated info sheet explaining the process of hank dyeing.

  5. All stock is likely gonezo after boxing day I would assume. Better make some phone calls! Not many shops carry a large selection/stock of APC.

Nomad is on Richmond St., not in Y-ville BTW.

  6. Those NC up there ^^^ really don't look bad in my opinion. Most people size them down to achieve an even tighter fit. If you're a 30 and you grabbed a 30, then they will likely stretch to a 32-33 eventually and will sag and bag out much more. My 31s have stretched to a retarded 33-34 waist after several months and now they're huge. I should have sized down to a 30 or less and just stretched the hell out of them.

  7. Honestly, they're decent jeans for what you pay for them. Of all the pairs I've seen, the newer pairs like the weighty, stiff, 15oz Weird guy (pink selvage line, dark indigo w/ orange stitching) seem to have improved construction over the older models (felled inseam, more chain stitching). The newer jeans really look pretty good construction-wise, all the basics are there. The hardware still seems a little shitty, and the sewing is maybe not what you'd find on an upper echelon jean, but still not complete shit.

Really though, if you're after a premium qual jean with top finishing (hidden rivets, etc.) then why would you be looking at these? At $120 and up, most of the people out there who are looking at these are looking for an alternative to what most on here would call "entry-level" denim such as APC, Nudie, Cheap Monday, etc., and that's the niche where I'd place these. Affordable, and still decent looking raws. And as others have mentioned they can sometimes go on sale for pretty damn cheap. I grabbed a pair of the 21oz back in July for a $100 bucks.

The 21oz uses a denim that seems very similar to Iron Heart's. Very weighty, but still soft.

  8. BIG alone has some options to pick from. Haven't tried the naked & famous denim, but the denim quality looks to be on par with APC--I would guess the dying job is probably done a little better (by N&F) but that is an assumption.

Naked & Famous uses high quality denim imported from Japan, only the sewing is done in Canada. The idea behind the label was to essentially produce a good quality jean at an affordable price. There were no costs cut in the denim used, but there are in other areas such as the sewing and hardware. This is especially evident in the older last season models.

The denim AFAI can tell is not really very different (quality-wise) from that used on many of the other reputable companies out there using Japanese selvage denim (Jean shop or Imperial spring to mind). The newer models look better, with overall better finishing. Still the same hardware, but at least the inseams are now felled and there's chain-stitching throughout the jean. And the range of denims used is actually pretty damn nice, especially in the 18oz and 21oz weight fabrics.

IMO they seem to surpass APC in quality due to the denim used and the cheap prices alone. With prices at $120 for their 14oz selvage, ranging to $150 for the 18oz and $190 for 21oz I think they're a pretty good deal. Especially if you're looking at an entry level jean or just something to fuck around with. I'm currently working on a pair of the 21oz, so we'll see how those hold up and fade.

  9. Throwin' these in here as per request.

Here's some hand done repairs I've done over the past few years to a pair of Nudie SSKs and Skull 5010xx 7x6. Most of the patches are there to reinforce shredded seams, tears and holes that were accumulated from normal wear and skating. I think they held up pretty damn well, especially the Skulls. I used raw Nudie denim for all the patches.

  10. Haven't posted here in a long time...

Skull 5010xx 7x6, 3+ years and still really dark! They look way bluer/lighter in the photos. Washed cold maybe twice, rinsed or soaked maybe 3 more, lot's of repairs I did myself by hand.

Nudie SSK almost 4 years I think, washed maybe 3-4 times hot & cold, rinsed maybe twice, soaked a couple of times as well. Tonnes of repairs I did myself (had to put in a new zipper twice).

  11. Wow the Skulls have come a long way since the last time I was on here. Seems like they've actually developed a following now compared to only the handful of people that knew about them previously, 5010 is a solid jean BTW though prolly not as tapered as some might like, the fit is still awesome, especially if worn tight.

  12. i've noticed the whole "carry around a skateboard" thing is pretty big in toronto lately as well. tons of hipsters, jocks, etc walking around carrying skateboards. i think it's getting to be almost as popular as a fashion accessory as the ipod.

I noticed a few of the local streetwear shops stocking skate merch (decks/trucks/wheels/bearings, bags etc.) these days too. Also more and more of the yuppie crowd hangin' out at skate shops as well. Though I can't say I see alot of people carrying decks around downtown.

  13. I paid $350CDN for the Porter 3-way locally. Japan MSRP was around $240 IIRC, factor in shipping to NA, + taxes, it would be roughly the same as ordering IMO and I at least got it in the same day. Solid bag, very well made. Stussy bags look good as well though, and are a fraction of the cost. Here's mine:

Can be worn messenger, carried as a briefcase or as a backpack with the stowaway straps.
