  1. Hi Takashi!

You are indeed correct that the flash is the cause of the lightened photo. The closest representation is probably the last picture.

I'm surprised that your GF likes the jeans! My wife considers me mad for wearing my raw denims, she thinks I must be a masochist! icon_smile_big.gif

  2. Hello Takashi,

I find the "Levis Method" of soaking in the bathtub to work fine with me. Although I would agree that there is a tendancy to bag out on the knees (when sqatting to get rid of excess water), I find that subesquent washing restores the shape of the denim with no adverse effects. I've tried this method on all my shrink to fits such as; LVC's, Denime, and Samurai.

btw. great jeans! Worn them yet? How did you find the waist measurement? I found it smaller than average maybe due to the thickness of the denim at the waistband. Oh, I have done the Levis treatment on them and it is fine, and with the thickness, very minimal bagging at the knees.

  3. The ones I have are:

No. 2, lot 0331 Right hand twill selvedge denim, with the 'normal' patch, regular (i.e 501 like) fit)

No. 2, lot 0331 Left hand twill selvedge denim, with the normal patch, regular fit, and instead of a painted gull, it has the embroidered gull on both pockets in silver thread.

No. 2, lot 0001 right hand twill hemp/cotton selvedge, normal patch, loose fit. painted gull on one pocket, Evisu Genes Osaka on the other.

It seems as if the lot numbers are notations of fit since the stamped No. 2 is the same.

How can I tell if they are made in Italy or Japan if there is no country of manufacture listed?

  4. Thank you for reposting that. I did read it before posting, but it has NOT answered my questions:

    1) what does the stamped No. 2 mean? (it can't be the 'fit' since one of my "No. 2" is a loose fit)

    2) what does the lot numbers mean, specifically lot 0001 and lot 0331.

edit: oops.. 0331 has been answered! Thanks

    Thanks

  5. I would like to ask a few questions regarding Evisu which has not been addressed yet on this thread. I have 3 pairs of Evisu, all bought in the Netherlands from the authorized dealers.

    1) How can you tell where the jeans are made? I've seen the French Evisu tag, and the standard, but that is it. I've heard of the Italian Evisu.. how can you tell? The tag inside does not give the country of manufacture.

    2) What does the stamped No. 2 mean?

    3) What does the lot number mean... I've heard that it could refer to the year of manufacture, etc.

My 3 Evisu's all have No. 2 stamped on the back leather tag. Two of the cotton ones (a RHT and LHT) are regular fit, and they are both "Lot 0331", The hemp/cotton is a looser fit and is a "Lot: 0001". What the heck does this mean???

Edit: I forgot to add that all three Evisus are selvedge denim..

  6. icon_smile_sad.gif Sorry, I can't help you regarding the Tokyo store, since I've only been to the Paris branch. The people I saw shopping there looked quite well off, about late 20's to mid 30's... looked like trend followers....

But that shouldn't deter you from wearing/buying 45RPM's if you like the style and fit... It is you who will wear it and d*mn the others who think you are a trendiot... icon_smile.gif

Atelier la durance on the Net: http://www.atelierladurance.com

  7. I believe they have 4 different models at this time: an 11oz, a 14 oz, a 14oz (?) Carpenter styled jeans, and a newer 'slimmer' fit (which I have yet to go an see). However, la Durance does not use selvedge denim, at least the jeans I have seen lack the selvedge edge. The limited editions they did for Colette was basically the 14oz version, with 3ple stitching at some hems and some fancy gold lettering saying "limited edition for Colette" or something to that effect.

What do I think of them... since I am more a traditionalist (in terms of fit at least), I would prefer to spend my money on repo Levis, Evisu (gasp! from all you members!), Nudies' RR, Denime, and 45 rpm (ordered from Japan, much cheaper than their Paris store). Saying that, I do have a pair of la Durance in the lighter 11oz weight....
