  1. Hey

    i started my own line almost 1 year a go ( http://www.perplexandlola.com )

It is harder than it seams, but its possible. We are doing well right now !

1: Before you start--- meet with the retailers you would like to sell . Ask what are their budjets for a new line. Don,t ask just 1 ask at least few they will all tell u something different.

    2. Plan your operations and production accordingly. Keep you overhead as low as possible.

    3. Make sure you have money to assume production and overhead custs for at least 3 seasons ahead. Collecting your money its very difficult.

    4. Stay focus on your branding and be consistent. Your line has to evolve but not change drasticly.

    5. Your business has to look stable othrewise the makers & the retailers will not deal with you.

    6. At the end of the day your product has to sell. The retailers will not support you --- they don,t give a dame

    7. Talk to everyone you know about your project, you don,t know from where help might come.

    8. hold on onto your stock as much as u can. Your better off giving your clothes away to cool people to wear. Word to mouth is the way to go

  2. Guys

support Jason from Virginthreads --- he was also the founder of Sowear.com --- unfortunatly this site does not exist anymore but for those who know it -- it was a perfect example of how Jason was helping the indie designer community. Virgin has no right messing with Jason"s buseness

Some good news : We found a amasing rep in Toronto -- Perplex&lola spring 2006 will be sold in Toronto -- youpppppi :-)

also we are talking to a distributor in the UK -- hope it works !!!

Also for those who don,t know this Bulgariamagzine --- follow the link its worth it

We have an interview on the Brilliance ---

    http://www.thebrilliance.com/thebrilliance/interviews/perplex/interview.asp

    talking about just that

----- one thing I can tell you --- the fashion world looks glamourous only on the outside -

from the inside its pretty fucked up

If you want to start your own thing u better be ready to deal with the hole bullshit that surround that industry .... hehehe ---- gotta love it ....

ask me something specific -- i,ll be straight with you so you don,t make the same mistake we did

  4. thanks skecr8r //

Denmark -- hehehe - I wish - The think is that we don,t have any contacts to go out there and budgets for trade shows -- what budgets --:)

    - Just to let you all know ;;;;

I graduated from school less than an year and it<s not like I went into the Perplex&lola venture with established distribution channels nor someone to back us up with $$$. Anyways, it's maybe better that way --- doing my thing with out having the additional pressure of some fashion lord seeking fast returns. The good news is that we are doing fairly well in Montreal and we are learning pretty fast how things work in the industry, retail etc...

If anyone could help us with some contacts regarding distribution --- it would be so appreciated --- believe me -- we are looking for reps, distributors, agencies etc..

    By the way -

Is there any super shoppers from Montreal ?

'cause we have our fashion show the 31st at la Sat

[email protected] if you would like to attend

  5. have a question

We are from Montreal www.perplexandlola.com, our line is one season old. We are sold in Montreal strores like Influence-U , Un autre monde, Extc. Fly. etc ...

We would love to be sold in Toronto . Unfortunatly we don,t have any connections there and we don,t really know the city that well.

We will greatly appriciate any suggestions of few cool shops that our line will fit well

    thanks in advance

  6. THANKS ALL
