  1. Approx. $4,200. Last month was the first time that I drew a credit card balance longer than the free grace period. I applied for a 0%APR card to finance a percentage of an engagement ring.

I'm a big fan of debt in both personal finance and business. I only borrow what I can pay back immediately, and I make sure i have cash invested in something liquid generating a positive margin. As far as debt to buy clothing and other gadgets, work expenses, travel, etc. I make sure to pay it off monthly.

Also, if your credit card company starts to increase your credit card limits, I'd recommend getting them to curtail it to what it was or within reason to your annual income. The high levels availability impacts your FICO score negatively.

  2. Oasis - Morning Glory

    Kid Dynamite - Pause

    Mogwai - Sine Wave

The Clash - Lost in the Supermarket and Clampdown

Ryan Adams - To Be Young (Is to be sad, Is to be high)

The Jam - A Town Called Malice

  3. I remember it was a Tuesday. I was at some diner with friends, talking about music, and I said something like "you know, I think City of Caterpillar is my favorite band that's still around. I haven't seen them in a while, so I'm looking forward to that show on Friday."

Then Wednesday, there's a bulletin on some site saying that they broke up and the previous night was their last show and that they won't be releasing any of their new material. Awesome.

They've been broken up for a while now but they were really a fantastic band--fantastic live show. I saw a pretty early show of theirs and absolutely floored me. A lot of bands try to do the godspeed/mogwai + punk sound and end up sounding like crap.

Quicksand-Nice! Rival Schools were fun too.

  4. work playlist - somewhat related to mid/late 90's emo

-city of caterpillar - s/t, i forgot how rad this record is! ("when was the last time we painted oer the blood on the walls" is especially awesome)

-some random assistant & you and i songs

-engine down - under the pretense of present tense

-sunny day real estate's diary during my morning commute

by the way, does anyone remember forstella ford and seven days of samsara?

  5. I know there are some ladies that post on this board, and some fellas that are all bunned up, so i ask, what are some tight lingerie lines? My lady and I are taking a fall vacation and i thought i'd surprise something dope, something different - not like agent provacatuer or victoria secret. Any suggestions?

  6. I actually reverted back to listening to alot of my old cd's/records because those bands are WAY better than the shit on being played these days.

My personal favs from that time, Texas Is the Reason, Samiam and their their new band Solea, Clarity by JEW, Saetia, 400 years, Rites, Sunny Day, Small Brown Bike's early shit, Quicksand, Smoking Popes!!!!!, HWM, Exploder and No Knife, and at the drive in.

does pg. 99 and city of caterpillar count? They were rad too.

  7. I recently picked up a pair of Tod's brown leather driving loafters and I am still baffled on what to wear them with. I tried to wear them with some Nudies Thin Finns, though that looked awkward. What have you folks seen that looks tight? I'm going on vacation in a few weeks to a place that's still warm and I'd like to take advantage of them while the season permits.

  8. isn't phnom penh more dangerous in general?

I had a blast in phnom pehn. It's kind of a crazy town, but, if you keep your guard up and don't go around flashing cash, you'll be ok. The drinks are cheap; Angkor beer is cheaper than a soda.

Orasay Market, Golden Market, some cafes across the japanese bridge, fruit vendors, all great things. Sihanoukville's beaches are tight as hell too. Less western than thailand.

  9. I can't speak about sept-oct, but I went over there in December. The weather was perfect. 80 degrees F in the daytime, 40 degrees F in the evenings. I've heard it's really muggy during the rainy season.

What parts of Cambodia and Vietnam are you going to?

  10. Hey, im looking to get a pair of LVC's and was wondering about sizing/fit. I wear a 29 in APC standards and hipster/women's jeans. Would a 29 be comparable in LVC? and whats a good "slim" fit; similar to APC's women's jeans -- perhaps sold at selvedge in nolita?

  11. I don't know if anyone reads GQ USA, but theres an interview with the designer at APC. It's a short and good read. Definitely in to the 50's vibe from that rag's article.

The woolite black soak takes only a bit of the indigo off, just enough from what i've read.

I've heard showering in them, and washing with shampoo does wonders?

    eh..

  12. APC's fit waaaay better if you get a size too small. I regularly wear a 30, but the Unisex jeans fit nice in a 29. Finest denim trousers i own.

Does anyone have any good ideas on "recipes" for APCs to give them a good finish. I'm thinking 6-9months without washing, then what? I've heard that soaking them for a few minutes in some H2O and Woolite Black makes them turn out nice.
