  1. Mandarin Oriental is pretty good, next to Twin Towers, Asian-slick style. Drawbacks: beds are a bit hard though, the lobby restaurants are filled with Malaysian "society" folk. Best avoid the Pacifica bar on Friday evening - it's where they ALL congregate

The Westin is spanking new, with the paint just dried. Decor is modern, cushy but give the restaurants a miss - airline food standard

The Shangri-La claims to have undergone a 30 miliion ringgit refurbishment, which is not evident anywhere apart from in the Horizon club floors and 3 major restaurants. Look out for the dried fruit basket upon check-in.

The Ritz Carlton is very good. A bit cosy and quite empty, as it's not super cheap. Beds are VERY comfy, the lobby lounge has a Sunday champagne brunch thing going on. Price around 200 ringgit. If you like your Moet...

The less salubrious Capitol Hotel is a cheaper alternative. Located at the heart of Bukit Bintang - KL's shopping central - it tries to be a boutique hotel. Good value and half the price of the other four places.

One last thing: KL nightlife is crap. Any claims otherwise are blatant lies.
