I have a pair of big e's that have no back stitch also( Button number is 2 and lEvis is on both side of the tag. I think the are from 1966). Sometimes when people donate clothing they pull off any tags that will tell people what the item is, stores do this also when they get rid of damages. This my be the case with yours or the previous owner my have just washed them to death.

Found them in a thrift store. They are 501 type with a red line selvedge. All tags are in Japanese.
I know Davis was the man with the patten for the rivets on the Levis jeans and went on to be forman at the first Levis plant. His grandson started Ben Davis (the work wear co.)
All i want to know is if the brand is still around ,google had nothing on it, or if it is done. Does it have anything to do with Levis (japan)?
The jeans I found look like a pair of Big E 501's that i have. I think my big E jeans are from around 1960.

Vacant like any other "Culture" Mag/web site (freshness,Evil monito..etc..) is just a shill for these brand. The only push their friends or people who give them free stuff. I am sure they got money for their shilling of the brand, but i guess that how it goes, it's not how dope you are but who's ass you kiss.

Top button should be LEVI not LEVS as I have seen this on all Fakes that I have come across. they may be from eurpoe/Africa as they do funk things one of them is the number on the back button being in a triangle and not straight across like the Japanese or American ones. Sizing on fakes are also really off. Tag may say 30 but the jean sizing is more like a 38 or 40. Since you can see them inperson you can check for these thing when you look at them again.
Hope this helps,
