  1. Try Scarlet hotel on Erskine road, close to Chinatown...the only boutique hotel in Singapore, along with the 1929 (but smaller roooms) located closeby..

fantastic rooftop restaurant, in-house toiletries, black/velved red color code, outdoor jaccusi (only sits 3/4 people but nice anyway)...and walking distance from foodcourts...

i usually stay in business hotels in singapore and really got tired of it...(except Fullerton & Raffles, can't get tired of them !!!)...this Scarlet hotel is just a gem..

  2. Dior Omotesando building is located between Omotesando and Meiji-Jingummae stations....get off at Omotesando station, walk down Omotesando street, passing by Vuitton, Chaumet and it's there.

Dior Ginza building located on right side of Hermes, Coach and Sony Plaza buildings, on Namiki-dori.

Chanel Ginza located right in front of Matsuya dept store.

Dior Homme available in both Dior Omotesando and Ginza.

  3. anyone been there ?

design totally inspired from Amsterdam Bed Supperclub...nice execution though

waitress walk on catwalk to serve food with that model attitude...

food very average...not sure what i was eating...

    crowd mostly foreign..and boring...

  4. actually SIA girls are real flight attendants, not models....they are selected by ad dept and it's in their contract to accept to pose as model..they don't even get extra pay for that....and they have to work on flights to location of photo shoot.....

i just flew JAL on biz and got lucky enough to get the seats on way back from bangkok. (i got old planes on way to Bangkok)...seats have a back massage system, pretty cool.....in-flight video system is on-demand with pretty decent selection.....nothing exceptional compared to SIA or CX but JAl needed some real update...food however was great.....better than SIA i think...hot bread, soft butter and breakfast eggs were better than usual....

  5. if you're taking long-haul flights, first thing to do is check the movie listing.....it's video on demand so you don't need to worry about missing the beginning...you start the movie when you want to watch it....but if they happen to have movies just released in the US and which will be released much ater in Japan (as usual), then it's worth watching it......unless you need your big-ass screen to watch Matrix No 17....anyway, it's perfect for watching those b-class flicks you refused to fork 1,800 JPY for (movies a luxury in Japan !) but didn't have the time to catch the DVD at Tsutaya or Blockbusters.....

then of course, they feed you like you're training for a gastronomy competition upon your arrival...you have to be able to say no and keep your stomach for the best...don't splurge on garlic bread, keep it for desert......wine list usually top notch so just drink your soul....i mean, it's the best sleeping pill....

business class seats usually always have these wide storage compartments.....very useful but risky...you always end up forgetting sumthin in there.....i lost 2 CD players like that....

.....oh yes, i forgot, flight attendants in business class are much more relaxed than in economy so you can chat with them easily......customers in first class are too old anyway....

  6. SIA is the best by far.....food prepared by international top chefs, they serve Dom Perignon champagne..movie on demand and space bed....and of course Singapore Girl...best uniform on the planet...

Cathay Biz class also very good but SIA much better...

Asian airlines usually have the best business class..service is quintessential....

  7. i agree, very good...replica of Paris....

just tried Sunday Brunch at Grand Hyatt R. Hills....JPY 5,000 + tax for buffet and one glass of champagne..make sure to get terrace seats on sunny days.....

  8. go to Ohoo in Hongdae..merger between ex-Matmata and Hodge Podge...run by by my buddy Robb Harker, ex-Sickboy Production (Derrick Carter, PVD, etc...)..3 floors..house / rock & pop / live performance / art gallery / vip lounge....check www.ohoo.net

check following website for party info' www.technogate.co.kr

major house DJ in Korea DJ Yeon Ju (resident in Ohoo), Dave Benz, DJ Jin Wook (Sway), Sal.....DJ Unkle and Decode more progressive/tech house...

in Apkujong, head for Sahm behind jazz club Once in a blue moon..resident DJ Ken plays deep house and also r&b and hip-hop..made final 8 at last MTV DJ contest....

    have fun

  9. Worth walking around there during daytime but quite freaky at night....

Very good restaurants inside Mori tower, especially the Chinese one...also, an amazing Italian bakery straight from Florence (parking entrance).

"Bamboo" restaurant menu very ecclectic and only place serving food past 10pm. There is a DJ booth with a DJ spinning but don't come for that.

"Maduro" bar in Grand Hyatt very cozy but beware of the 1,800 JPY cover charge for live singing..excellent Jazz band btw with Brazilian singer (i think)...and remember this is Roppongi so a lof of fly girls around the counter.

There is a chinese restaurant open 24/7 just in front of Grand Hyatt hotel lobby...very convenient, always crowded...

For residents, Hills Spa has an outdoor swimming pool located just above the Louis Vuitton shop...ultimately cool.

Also, "Estination" dept store has a pretty unique selection for a dept. store...but that's because this is Roppongi and there is no dept. store around.

Finally, "Tsutaya" is open until very late and you can read Nylon, Wallpaper and browse through Masamichi's latest book with a latte....not to mention the 24/7 posh supermarket.

    Still, i prefer Omotesando/Aoyoma.

  10. not sure what you mean by petit bourgeoisie since i grew up just in the middle of those concrete bunkers in the suburbs of Paris....

plus i may have fallen asleep during class in college but neither architecture nor design were on the curriculum....

    i`m just being curious...

  11. clear.....anything to do with Le Corbusier's housing projects in the suburbs of Paris after WWII to accomodate a mostly immigrant population ? ugly, faceless, all-concrete bunkers supposedly aiming at optimizing the people\space ratio ? that's what I knew him for as a student......i guess designing furniture was the glamorous part...

  12. thanks for the tip......i compared prices and yes it is the cheapest i found...

i have a question for you: the Chaise Longue Ponyhide from Edouart Jeanneret is similar to the Le Corbusier Pony Chaise.....can u explain that ? i'm at loss..i always thought that it was designed by Le Corbusier..

  13. the only bad thing about Zouk WAS the 3AM closing time....it changed last year so now we're talking....(going there this w/e, Ferry Costen playin)....

Yellow surely still happening with always decent line-up...check Felix Da Housecat in June..but lately, Ageha had the best DJ's...Junior Vasquez, Pete Tong, Danny Rampling....Air and Womb also very qualitative...I love Yellow but the mood has become more world/jazzy/ethno.......La Fabrique alternates good & bad line-up but strikes it with more conceptual party (Kinky party, Electro-clash party)....

don't miss Peter Kruder at La Fabrique and Bob Sinclair at Air end of May...

  14. Womb is good but 'physical'..always great line-up though...Oakenfold this week..

Zouk also has a great line-up but i prefer Velvet..more deep house....Zouk has younger crowd, Velvet more mature and likely to buy bottles.....whatever rocks your boat.

btw, MOS opened in Taipei...huge lines to get in.....

  15. fine jewelry mostly found in corners in prestigious department stores (Isetan Shinjuku, Ginza Mitsukoshi, etc).....also some boutiques in Ginza mostly.....

wedding market very competitive in Japan, mostly platine...silver gold still very small market.....

Cartier doing fine...around JPY 60 Billion business...(vs Vuitton JPY 150 Billion, Dior 25 Billion, Chanel 60 Billion)...

Bulgary, Tiffany always hot....LV-De Beers just opened 2 boutiques in department stores...still very little awareness...

Dior just launched 'Gourmette' with heavy advertising.....sales still slow....

  16. try Shazbot in Harajuku..from Gap store, head towards Omotesando, when u pass the Lawson store, turn on the left (small street full of people with small stairs going down)....it's the 3rd shop...next to Nike beta store (test marketing for new bags, sneakers...)

  17. already gave some info in an earlier post.' the soul of Seoul'.....copied it here below and added some additional comments...

for shopping, cool shops are located in the apkujong/chongdam area, around the Galleria dept. store...walk in the small streets round and around and u shall find interesting stuff...

Boon shop is the main select shop but mostly for women...Blouson also interesting...then try to find MMMG, the only cool Korean designer brand selling stationery, t-shirts and cie..very Korean, different from Made in Japan stuff...

dongdaemun is a night market for clothes with thousands of outlets....korean designers, not always cheap but worth the look...

myongdong is for young teens and very crowded on w/e...avoid the area except insa-dong for laid back tea houses and art galleries..

    for after hours...

S bar in Apkujong has really nothing peculiar except the fact that it was the first bar in Seoul to feature that long counter...Koreans usually like to sit and sip...the counter is a major pick-up place so bring yr smile and don't balk when ordering the Blue label....they have Belvedere vodka...

in the same area, newly opened Sugar next to the Doosan park in B1 had some good opening party back in Dec..(met that cute L'Oreal Korea model who's also on Toshiba ads at the airport)...my man DJ Jinwook spinning there ocasionaly...

for quiet oriental lounge, head for Sahm behind Once in a blue moon (famous jazzÂ@club) and my buddy DJ Ken plays deep house and easily goes to R'N'b and hip-hop....made the final 8 at the latest MTV DJ contest....all waiters hired on their look so dress to undress.

not far, the Underground, opening party with DJ MissBliss last Dec...very loud...check for flyers...

the real Korean night though is in the Pojangmacha...sit around the table, order some Midori-soju and some Kimchi seafood stew and you're set to meet your new best friends...try Nori People (60inch PDP, hip-hop and hot night birds) and Moya (sign only in Korean)...

for some serious underground clubbing, head to Hongdae area...Matmata runs its 'Small club BIG DJ' gig with DJ Yeonju (house, progressive)..dont get there until 3am...really amazing how they pack so many people in a Tokyo-sized apartment...also try MI, the oldest club in Seoul..packed, young crowd and DJ Unkle plays a progressive, hard beat and sometimes tech-house sound every friday and saturday...most clubs are located next to each other..just ask people...also try NB, a hip-hop joint where foreigners (i mean caucasian) are not very welcome (foreigners pay double-charge)....sweaty, young but soooo fun....

best parties in Seoul are one-off parties organized by SWAY, O2 production, Nori people, etc....check www.townmax.com, they usually advertise these kind of events (the rest of the site sucks)...also www.seoulite.net run by my friend Sonja has some info (but not always updated).....www.technogate.co.kr has all flyers for techno parties...in Korean...

need more info let me know.

    peace.

ps: Sex in the city party on April 30th by Sway...chic and trendy with live percussion and my friend DJ Jin Wook...

  18. very useful: memorize all the Citibank locations for ATM with international credit cards....Omotesando crossing, Shibuya on the way to Bunkamura and of course Roppongi crossing.

  19. check superfuture maps ! if your stay is short, just lose your way in Daikenyama and you'll be fine...

for clubs, i would recommend Air, Yellow and Simoon....Ageha has hip-hop party this w/e..

for accomodation, Ceyrulean hotel in Shibuya or Excel hotel would be perfect..just in the middle of Shibuya..
