Ok, so before I go into any details, i'd like to make it clear that i do love these jeans and this is not a hate-post, think of it as more of an observation.

Whilst having a denim-porn moment (comparing the finer details on my different pairs), I noticed a flaw on my pair of ROYs - one belt loop doesn't tuck under the waistband like the others do. Guess it shows that a 'one-man artisan operation' doesn't necessarily equal 'absolute perfection' and that ROY is actually human, just like the rest of us.

My narrows def shrunk more than other jeans I've had in the past length wise...I gave them 2 hot soaks before wear and have been rocking them with a 1'' single cuff since Jan 1st. Gonna give them one more hot soak to get all the shrink out then its hemming time.

Thought I'd share with you guys what my Roy OG's have been doing this past 6 weeks. Not having my smartphone with me anymore makes it difficult to get any regular evo pics, but I managed to take these with my GF's DSLR when I was at work this weekend.

(For those that haven't followed the RxC contest thread, I work at a golf club :( )

On one of the two courses we have two lakes. The water source(s) come from deep bore-holes connected to an underground spring below the cotswold limestone.

Rebuilding a wall across the fifth fairway, the new stone comes from where the newest lake was dug out - all of it tooled by hand and mixed in with the existing original wall-stone. These walls are only three-quarter size of regular field walls - the bloody golfers complain they're too high already! (Brings a warm feeling to my heart :))

Just curious, how does tucking the beltloops into the waistband increase the durability of them? I know it's a cool detail, but I have hard time seeing how it would help. I could only really see it helping if the bartack came loose, but I feel like anything that could rip the loop off at the bartack would have no problem ripping it from the waistband too

That's pretty much it, you got it.

There's two points from the bottom that it'd have to rip, not one point. Belt loops normally break from the bottom if it's the stitching that fails over time so this would give it a back-up area where it's also attached. We find that a lot of people like the second smaller loop so they can hook a carabiner onto just the small bit without it rubbing against the belt.

second loop? is that between the part of the loop that is bartacked and tucked into the waist band, and the leg? I assume the first loop is just where your belt would normally go?

Yup, exactly.

The beltloops tucked under the waistband is also a cleaner look in terms of seeing open edges. There are no frayed denim pieces. The open end is tucked under the waistband.

Also, people should not be hooking carabiners around there waist in any manner.

You are very correct. I didn't mention any of that cause the original post was questioning it's durability factor.

FYI, for those that don't own many Japanese brand jeans, about half the brands we carry from Japan also do this, it's just very labor intensive compared to the traditional method of just clipping one end so factories don't want to do it unless pressured by the brand.
