Smallrod 444 Posted May 4 Thats awesome. One of many reasons why he and his products are so respected.
Broark 8,516 Posted May 4 Yup, Roy is a cool dude that’s for sure.
mpukas 1,578 Posted May 4 Yeah, Roy is a great guy for sure. I admire his passion for his craft.
Broark 8,516 Posted May 4 Memorial Jeans almost due for another wash. The Black Seed denim is slow to fade but worth the time. My belt is causing a weird little hole to develop right on the fly:

Broark 8,516 Posted May 9 Knew the day would come eventually, hope he's got a few more projects up his sleeve. I need to take his invitation up on visiting the workshop before that happens...
mlwdp 1,619 Posted May 9 I think I'm late but did he take down his website because it isn't working on my end unless it's just me.

Go for it, he might be the last of his kind at this insane addiction.
Broark 8,516 Posted May 9 @mlwdp I think it's just you, still shows up for me. @501XX4EVER I'm working on it, might have a trip planned out there in a month or so. Need to email him.
Broark 8,516 Posted May 10 Also if anyone's got some SF01 jeans in 36 or a natural indigo work shirt I'll pay top dollar.
mpukas 1,578 Posted May 10 Sad day ahead, indeed. Unfortunately, I think we all saw this coming for some time. I could guess that there are multiple reasons why Roy would want to get out. I wonder how the financial aspect is a factor.
JohnnyUtah247 51 Posted May 10 Yikes. Between the news about flathead and now this. Very upsetting news. When I heard the news about flathead I bought a pair of 3005’s and now Im definitely going to be scouring the market for Roy’s stuff now.
julian-wolf 1,324 Posted May 10 Super bummer. His jeans really are top notch; this makes me extra sad that it took me so long to try them out. As an East Bay native + resident, I always feel a little proud wearing and using local stuff, and his is some of the best.

Broark 8,516 Posted May 10 Most definitely @julian-wolf, no concrete plans yet but I want to make it happen. Pigeontreecrafting posted on reddit that he heard Roy's actually just looking to move into a new space and unloading some equipment, so not really looking to retire yet. Really hope that's the case.
501XX4EVER 2,214 Posted May 10 That would certainly be good if true as there has been too much denim related bad news recently.

I sized down for the test lots, which (I think) are the same cut, and I’m wishing now that I had picked these up and either gone tts or maybe even sized up. It’s cool that you can get such different fits from the same cut. What is that jungle fatigue shirt, btw? Army surplus, or Japanese repro? Thanks! Apologies, I have not logged on for a few weeks. Yes, I definitely agree on the various fits you can get with Roy denim. You should upload a fit of your test lots. Would love to see them! The shirt is the 3sixteen Olive BDU. The material is really nice and the nep is unreal. It’s one of my go-to shirt for spring/summer nights or fall.
Broark 8,516 Posted May 27 Washed my Memorial Jeans on Memorial Day Weekend. They're not nearly as shredded as Edwin's pair, but I like how they're slowly coming along.

zwer 487 Posted May 29 @Broark - do you have any other pairs with the belt wear on the fly? I've got it on my Warehouse 900s, but nothing else. Weird phenomenon...
Broark 8,516 Posted May 29 @zwer this is the only pair I’ve ever had this happen, pretty strange.
Maynard Friedman 565,192 Posted May 29 I’ve only had that belt wear on my Ande Whalls, so it is indeed quite selective!
