- Triumph of the Will (Nazi propaganda but a masterpiece nonetheless)

I wasn't even thinking of Koyaanisqatsi as a documentary, but nonetheless one of my all time favorite films!!

Heima is really cool, say that in Uni's theater.

Hoop dreams is damn interesting

Style wars is good too. Its awesome how BlackStar samples the clip of the two young guys talking in the beginning for "Respiration"

if you like sociology, anything by adam curtis is great: century of self, the trap, the power of nightmares

other then that, dark days has been one of my favorite docs

I like The Power of Nightmares, its a good watch for sure....but I'm highly skeptical of some of the ideas it puts forth. It rightly criticizes the excessive fear of terrorism and particularly of Al Qaeda after 9/11- pushed by the Neoconservatives in the Bush Administration (Although its important to realize that many true neocons like Francis Fukuyama completely rejected the Bush Admin's actions.

But the idea that Al Qaeda is a fiction just isn't true today nor was in true 10 years ago, it's strength may have been exaggerated but it is real and dangerous. The film is right to question Al Qaeda's organizational strength, but the ability of small cells to latch on to its radical ideas should not be underestimated (Tube Bombings in London and train bombings in Madrid serve a poignant reminders).

I love the part in that movie when Rumsfeld is talking about terrorist hideout caves and they have these ridiculous models of cave fortresses like something from a superman movie haha
