Food; Favorite new (higher-end) restaurant is the book bindery, gorgeous interior and amazing food. new mid-end winner goes to the walrus and the carpenter (eat oysters every day), and low-end goes to where y'at matt, the cajun food truck.

Bars:

-upstairs of tavern law (needle & thread) is tough to get in to, but drinks are great and ambiance is laid back but nice. Tavern law is good as well.

-if you are in capitol hill you should probably check out cha cha and/or unicorn at least once to get your theme dive on. linda's and redwood get similar crowds and are similarly busy. there are any number of other bars around the area as well.

-shorty's is a seattle staple, go play some pinball there and drink a margarita slurpy

-in pike place market go to zig zag for cocktails, white horse trading co for beer, both have a nice atmosphere and are pretty chill.

-the hideout on first hill is great as well, cool decor and stays pretty busy

spending 2 days in the u-district area. what are some staple-can't-miss restaurants and bars (beers/cocktails)? looks like it's going to be a stag trip, so nothing too upscale.

I've had a few repairs done at Kulhman. I've been pleased with the work, though I wouldn't call them a denim specialist or anything (no chainstitching, for example).

Also, for u-district eating, holy shit is Chili's Mart good south indian. It's the one of the only places in Seattle proper you can actually get Dosa, and all their stuff is incredibly good/cheap.

Careful with Kuhlman tailoring, the quality is really inconsistent. I've had two pairs of jeans ruined by them. One pair got hemmed way too short, and the other they put in a new zipper all stretched out so it wouldn't stay zipped up.

Question:

I've had a terrible time living in the north east for the past 6 years and I'm moving to the west coast next year.

I can't really decide where I should go. Will most likely spend 4 years.

San Francisco would be ideal but I won't be able to find a job / have enough money.

Is seattle something I should look into? This is one of the few places in the states I haven't been to.

Me

-Mid/late 20s

-Single

-Japanese

-Professional degree

-Starting income around 60k (before tax obv)

Want

-Access to Japanese groceries

-Good food esp. ethnic

-Jawnz

-Music

-Girls who are down with Japanese guys

-Relatively good weather

-Minimal d-baggery / bros.

-Relatively good weather

sorry, after living here for years you better quit right now if this factor holds any amount of weight in your decision...

Yes to all. The question of weather comes down to the person. I love it here. Late fall through early spring isn't too far off from Tokyo. And summer is a relief comparatively. Aside from the common dislike for weather, I think it is a really easy city to get used to and grow comfortable in.

ago Seattle (and Portland) people! Need some help here...work stuff. Would someone mind listing what shops are in the area, Sufu related or street/contemporary are fine. Skate shops also. I run a tradeshow based in SF and we're expanding to the Northwest, and I'm trying to get my bearings for the region. I'm familiar with Blackbird, Zebra Club, and Lizard Lounge (Portland?)...I know Goods closed, but I know there has to be more I'm missing. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm gonna be in Seattle soon and will buy many beers for the info.

Y'all be the bestest.
