denimbro crosspost:

got these from ebay, sometimes people don´t know what treasure they possess ;)
what i learned is that the waist button back doesn´t have to show off a number, and not
all 501s from 73-78 came with the tear of tag
(the 1st 2 photos show colour best):

great find flash! i am with you here. also i will "hopefully" never fit into my recent pair.

yours seem to be from the same period, and interesting enough also don´t show of  tear off tag. what does the back of waist button read, and does your pair feature laundry information inside?

@Sympathy-For-The-Denim Thanks , pretty stoked to have found them but there not with me yet ( took the pics from the seller )

its my understanding that the tear tag came a few years later , maybe 76/77 ? I’m really not sure . This is another thing I’m not entirely sure about but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a tear tag without the words “ care instructions inside garment “ in black , above the 501

If anyone has some free time I came across the BerBerJin Youtube channel, you can turn on translated subtitles for some top quality Engrish.
Pretty cool stuff if you're into vintage: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCexbqeATcS0nViTHqOzJYLg/videos

Nice one mate , watched a lot of the videos already but obviously had no idea what he was saying ( never knew there was a subtitle option on youtube )

edit .... how do you do it though ?

They look like they have another month or 2 in them from what I can see but maybe the waist is too small now.
I still have the deadstock early 70s pair for my son but if he’s not in school uniform (rarely these days!), it’s shorts or adidas tracksuit bottoms so I’m not sure he’ll ever wear them.

Nice arc shape

There isn't a lot of difference between the denim on these and Jack's 302

No fit pics unfortunately.... there about 2 sizes too small , never planned on wearing them so it's not such a big deal

I think this has possibly been posted before, but I haven't looked at it in awhile. Pretty sure this is run by Shingo-san.
This might be one of the most comprehensive vintage denim archives I've found. Great photos and translated in english: http://denimarchieves.com/e/index.html
Love the wonky back pockets on this pair of S503XXB's from WWII. You can see the painted arcs just barely visible.

2 tone stitching as well , rare to see on a s501xx but not totally unheard of

Thanks for the link mate , give me something to look over tonight while the wife is playing Animal Crossing , said she was buying it for Jack .... chancer

I find it really impressive how detailed all the posts are. I haven't found any other websites with as much information in one place.
I'd love if Berberjin / Marvin's had all their pairs archived like this.
