Vintage Denim?

I have a pair of Levi’s Japan 503 BSSX from 1991 in natural indigo. I had some photos in the LVC thread but the links are no longer working, I’ll try to take some more soon and re-post.

EDIT: they are a size 33.

It actually is in my size, very lucky! Though it is tremendously short in the body when you're used to TCBs jackets, haha.

I know what you mean, the true vintage jackets do seem to be very short at the back. I once had a mint condition 557, in size 48 no less, it was so mint that even the cardboard inner patch was 100% intact, which is super-rare in those types from that era. Alas, it always felt like I was wearing a girls jacket as it was so high at the back, so it was sold.:(:(:(

That jacket looks incredible. Those fades are what all true denim nerds strive for!

The vintage jackets are so short because everybody wore their pants at grandpa-level back in the day. I like it. You just have to embrace your inner Trunks.

I don't think so, I believe it was more to do with how they look when you're sitting on a horse.

Yep, any longer and it could catch on the back of a saddle, you'd sit on the jacket (same reason the A-1 was adopted by pilots in '27) could cover up and get in the way of accessing a pistol/bullets:

I guessing that's the reason leather biker jackets have the same kinda high back as well.

Well I didn’t leave Tokyo with any big E’s for myself ... but Jack struck lucky in Marvin’s
Got himself another pair of 503zxx but an earlier pair this time ( 54/56 ? ) . Got some time to take a few pics while we’re having a rest from the chaos of Hong Kong Disney land

Some more pics of jacks collection

hope no one thinks I’m spamming the thread and at least a few people find it interesting

So left to right

503zxx ( 56-57 )   ,   302 ( 70-71 )   ,   503zxx ( 54-56 )

bit more yellow stitching on the smaller pair . I think I’m going to try and condition the patch ( just a little ) on the second pair because it really is like jerky and I want Jack to get a little year out of them before they are too small , wouldn’t want the patch to irritate him if it was too hard

Nice faded red selvedge line , I’m pretty sure these are the same denim but if not there not a kick in the arse off it
