I've been working non stop on my EP for the past week and a half, that's why I haven't been posting shit so much. In the next week I'll have something for all you guys to hear fashowww.

Ghettobob - I guess you succeeded in making a convincing house track. That is, there is nothing to it that separates it from the galaxy of boring house out there. Stay making more hip hop!

You don't know how disappointing this thread is. We could make each other better if we just keep posting shit. Anyways, here's my electro/house/idkwhattocallit

TylerJC - Home House

http://limelinx.com/files/a2a3664f0ee3d6c5962b553ff6c54c1f

This is my favorite track of those you have posted, though I am generally more into house than hip hop.

Also I would disagree that this sounds like generic house, it sounds quite unique to me.

I know this thread is more about producing than recording, but figured I'd ask:

I'm in the market for ONE good microphone under $150. So, if you were stuck using only one microphone for the rest of your life, what would you pick?

dunno a thing about chopping & screwing

but i felt like making this a few days ago

i like how it came out, enough to bump it on my own ipod, automasturbatory concepts

I didn't listen all the way through, but I'd say try to also do chops where you lose some of the track (like words are lost).

I chop shit really simply in Ableton. I slow my shit way the fuck down, more than usual I think?

Then I put the track in arrangement view and duplicate it on another track. Then, offset that by a bit (how much depending on the track). Then I just switch like 'speaker on' or some shit with the pencil jawn. So it's like I'm switching between the two.

real simple, but I like my results.

edit: have I posted my shit in here?

here are some chop n düms

my Whip My Hair jawn that I think everyone's heard already was mentioned in some SF news site in an interview with some band. Diplo and black du from community tweeted it too. It was internet famous for a week.

I think I'll start making tapes for fun. I just have no knowledge of mixing.

type in "ableton tutorial" or "ableton how to"

there is a little known secret amongst the production community for a search keyword that you type into youtube that links you to a video that teaches you how to produce music with a DAW with extreme competence. i am going to reveal it now:

"how to make a lex luger beat in fl studio"

edit: the 57 is also pretty shitty for vocals, I need something that's good (or at least alright) for everything!

Question: a friend recommended a condenser mic for direct vocal, and a dynamic in the back of the room, preferably in a far corner with a piece of paper beneath for getting a "roomy" vocal recording. i know it depends on the shape of the space/just have to try it, wondering if anyone here has done it.

general studio talk: we're gonna be at

Ohm Recording for a day in August, will try to remember a camera but i'll be busy.

I visited Electrical Audio when i played chicago in june, it was the coolest place, flared up my analog recording itch.
