If the spirit moves you, give it a listen.

this sounds fine. snare has enough verb i think and sits fine in the mix. could maybe use a little more top end because the punch is good.

Give this a listen, you won't regret it. Me on the vocals.

maybe turn down the track a bit, i had a hard time hearing you sometimes.

good vibes. i think there's room to expand on the bassline. it's a bit too sparse for me. i like the vocal snippets tho. really add to the mood.

Yo check out this tune I made on a hiphop-y vibe. Feedback welcome.

definitely crank up that snare. i can see in the waveform your kick is taking up all the room. i can't even see the transients of your snare, it needs to be louder. pretty lacking. the little pads and wobbly bits are nice though.

older track I decided to finish off and put out there, check it out, or don't

this is cool. i had a tough time following the progression at first but once the track kicks in gear it's enjoyable.

We all gotta provide more feedback. 5 soundcloud links in a row without any mention of the other posts is pointless.

edit: while i'm at it, here's another "banger" lol.

do you use fl? its a good track composition wise but when i listen to it i automatically think fl studio.

try to dl some plugins to make the sounds less stock

i took your advice on the bassline and tried to go more in depth.

there aren't any samples on this track also.

cool the bassline works more there, i still think i prefer the original tho. not really sure why, just like the mood more. are those all your vocals just pitch shifted?

and nah i used logic for that. every drum sound is from a lex luger pack that's why it sounds so stock. i'm actually just trying to make stuff with the same sounds everyone's heard before, and see if i can still keep things fresh. i used FL studio like 6 years ago lol, the stock sounds on it are awesome.

it's not bad, but knowing those echohy sounds and all, it will, i think, not play too well on a big sound system which is the point of electronic music.

oh and your avatar is copyrighted get a new one thank you :D

^appreciate the listen mane.

Here's something i've been working on for the past year.

I just released an EP entitled "In Flight".

Produced a couple of tracks on it. Enjoy

It seems like you simplified the bass line to In Flight. I really like it like this

cool stuff decoy.

here's something i finished up today. not sure where to take it or what to think of it. any feedback would be mad appresh.

I think right in the middle, where that wobbly womp womp sound (idk what it's called) comes in, you could use a standard repeating chord progression. you have chords in there right now that add to the ambience but they don't move in a certain direction so i feel like it sets up a tension that doesn't resolve. hope im making sense

Yeah I did simplify the bassline to that track. Glad you dig it. The stuff you've been putting out has been great btw.

serious question here - i might seriously try my hands making music (for fun) but scared that i have to pour a lot money into it. How much do you need just to make beats like most of those EDM DJs, Tokimonsta, etc. etc.

i haven't even done the base research on what kind of equipment i need, just happened to stumble upon this thread now and reminded me that i should give it a try.

i lol'd at edm dj's followed by tokimonsta.

you'll really only need a cracked copy of any DAW to make rough shit. so essentially free.

your best bet for what to spend money on would be a MIDI controller. Something like push for ableton.

haha whats wrong tokimonsta following ddm?  haha im just naming names here! teach me how to make SIC BEATS

  • 2 weeks later...

been working on some stuff.  i was a music major at johns hopkins peabody conservatory in college and took a bunch of electronic music classes.  at the time i was more interested in using programs like pure data and creating analytical progression based interactive works.  now i just wanna make music.

anyway - i've got a dj set up right now.  working on some originals, too.

edit: revised

soundcloud - tripleblackwatch

cowboy bebop/clazziquai sample. unsure where i should go from here

this is nice dude. i could do without the delay on the snare every time. cool chord progression tho once the bigger bass comes in. although i feel it gets a bit diluted by the "wah" sounds in the back.

was playing with the M1 and Wavestation and this happened...

https://soundcloud.com/bl-ck-cur/nine-muses-xxxi-ixxx-88-mix

nice lol. not much input. everything sounds good. vocals might be a bit loud, or else that's just low bit rate soundcloud.

https://soundcloud.com/hollowpigeons/two-minute-ruff-ting

something quick i threw together and started messing around with on the apc

i'm not a huge fan of the bit crushed drums, but the chords are cool. the constant vibrato can get annoying tho. definitely could go for a progression switch.
