video games ruined my life

bought a dualshock 4 to use with openemu on my laptop. easily the best controller ever made. replaying starfox 64, also trying to get into shadowrun (both versions) cause the story/universe is cool but the gameplay isnt very fun imo

also played zelda 1 for the first time, played it the way it would have been back then ie no savestates. exploring the world and drawing a map is really fun, the dungeons are well made, but the difficulty hits bullshit territory when you get to the dungeon with those teleporting wizard guys.

just trust us, its garbage

removed anything that makes it similar to an elder scrolls game, and they tryin to cash in too hard. imperial race behind a paywall, after paying for the game, and paying monthly sub fee. garbage.

my buddy who is really into mmos is stoked on wildstar, so if you want an mmo check that out. i don't play mmos so i can't really say whats good.

anybody play loadout? really fun game imo

Since we are somewhat on the topic of Dark Souls.

Shame on me for not having played it yet, but I own Dark Souls (Prepare to Die Edition) for PC. I have been too scared to play it as I fear that I may break everything in my room out of frustration with the bosses, etc.  I have been advised not to play it without a gamepad, as it was a terrible port.  I think gamepads are for sissies as I am PC Master Race... HOWEVER... for those that have played this on the PC, what are your thoughts?  I may just suck it up and buy an adapter for a gamepad, but I'd rather not.

i play with Dsfix and Dsmousefix. works pretty well. the control scheme will never be a true mouse input (kinda complicated) so yeah either you suck it up or get a gamepad. i'm enjoying it a lot with DSmfix

Finally finished Earthbound, i have to admit grinding and combat was exasperating many times, but its worth the effort

Ness is a badass motherfucker

how come (seriously)?  i liked skyrim

if you liked skyrim im sure its because you havent played the older ones, it was just a dumbed down version with better grafix, the main quest was boring as hell imo and there were no memorable side/guild quests.

youll enjoy TESO if skyrim was your first Elder Scrolls game

Battle Realms was the shit. It's similar to WC3

Played Banished in the past week, it's fun but I ran out of stuff to do. The game is pretty impressive for something that's made by one guy though. Can't wait for mods.

there's always starcraft II, unless you're looking for something medieval themed.

Total War on high graphics + blood dlc is graphics porn

Anyone play COH 2 yet? Looks good but I didn't play COH 1 enough to buy it for 45 bucks or w/e it is now

Played a bit of CoH2. It's just like what Dawn of War 2 was to 1, "streamlined". Really missed the base building aspect so I went back to Opposing Fronts. Not a bad game by any means though. RIP base building RTS

slowly getting back into war thunder. super fun f2p multiplayer flight sim game, like world of tanks, only with a good graphics engine and it's more fun cause you're flying planes and dog fighting instead of playing peekaboo behind cover.

Tried World of Warcraft again for the first time since I was 11. Despite all the new content I'm not really liking it and I'm not sure why. I really dislike these "go here and kill x of y" quests. Maybe it's pvp and dungeons that did it for me back then...

pvp was always the only thing that kept me playing that game when i did play it. that and friends you make while playing. i've played off and on since vanilla, usually checking out each expansion for a few months before getting bored again. i did pve stuff and it was terrible waiting around for 24-39 other people to not fuck things up, but there was always some pve item that was best in slot for pvp that made raiding necessary even if you were all about pvp.

If you liked CoH1 you'll like CoH2.  It's the same gameplay concept, just slightly tweaked and has better graphics.  I really like the fact that you can play as Soviets now and use proper mob tactics (I love infantry mobbing opponents, shoot me).  More often than not though I play Wehrmacht, just because their toys are way cooler.

Some people complain about the "pay to win" commanders/DLC but quite honestly you can still win games and defeat other players/cpus with the basic commanders.  I played about 250 hours of coh2 with about an equal mix of pvp and pve and finally bought the DLC, etc. out of boredom.  I enjoyed the DLC missions, as they revolve around actual battles that took place on the Eastern Front.

There is also some controversy about the CoH2 campaign being very anti-Russian, so much so that Steam pulled it from their Russian webstore.  Personally I don't care about that though, the game is quite fun overall if you enjoy RTS.

Got Collectors Edition of the game (the artbook is small, but fairly thick and filled with some good stuff). The game is pretty decent, if you've ever played Demon Souls it's more like that with aspects of Dark Souls thrown in. That being said it's a little more complicated with total soul count making it hard as balls to figure out how to summon friends for certain areas (you'll DEF need help for certain areas) and if you run out of human effigy to go human you're going to have a hard fucking time.

Only real advice I can give is take your time and be patient.
