Getting rid of rep

77 posts in this topic

wish the rep or neg rep stayed even if it's corresponding post got deleted. weird, but sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn't.

guess it depends on whether its a hard or soft delete, if you delete your own post it is still there but invisible to most but the mods can still see it. if the mods delete it hard then it dies good n proppa

Personally I think it's all a waste of time simply because it only provides some sort of ego trip to people. It's like because you have more rep power than others, you have more authority than the next person which I think is completely far fetched.

It's sort of like the rich vs poor. The higher you are in terms of status, you seem to have this snobby over the top attitude and think because you have more value than others that you can simply mistreat them.

Take the rep power off, and have it returned to the way it used to be with the creative comments that come with each level of rep ( eg; "_____ has hit rep-o-rama").

i think the same people who have those stuck-up attitudes will continue to have their stuck-up narcissistic attitudes because it's their personality and has no correlation with rep power.

Overall we're better off with rep though, there's no rep on styleforum and stylezeitgeist and I wish I could send some special comment sometimes. It's especially useful when I think an outfit is a fail and want to help the person out without posting publicly.

we all seem to agree on the fact that it is usefull to leave messages, which it indeed is, and most of us agree on the the meaninglessness of the rep power and/or it's display on our mini-profile.

Honestly if we come here regularly (I've been a somewhat intermittent reader since the layout change) we all know who knows their shit, who is funny, who dresses well, etc.

actually i would argue the opposite - i don't really read or post outside particular forums and/or threads so rep is the only way i would have of knowing whether anybody gives a crap about a contributor

although i agree that this information isn't particularly helpful for me, i thought i would mention that as a counterfactual

the real question is why isn't + rep blue... it's a much more pleasant color.

couldn't there just be a revamp of the points and the scale?

wouldn't that fix everything?

no more two rep to full bar.

and nothing as obvious as a rep power.

i think that either it is changed or made optional i dont want post being made without real opinions to either gain rep or in fear of losing it.
