chicago juke saved my life

I know they're into the guy too (i didn't even realize it was him in a couple of their mixes / comments since they were calling him "dj nate da trak genius" or whatever and all the stuff I had was just dj nate"). First track I heard was back in like late 2007 when - May Be Sum Day which is still great. I never got into it then but it's crazy appealing right now for some reason.

I don't know much about the scene but it's growing on me - I spent yesterday trolling through DJ Rashad and Gant-Man's pages and just following links / friends / other people on show flyers. I like Gant-Man's new-ish (?) Juke Dat Girl release for its slight main-stream sensibilities (certainly no "watch my feet" or whatever that thing was a real ways ago) but overall DJ Nate seems to appeal to me the most - it has a great sensation of claustrophobia to it that seems like being trapped in an off-kilter elevator on drugs one floor below the dance floor.

Also reviving this.

It's kinda amazing how it's blown up, I'm really happy for all of the pioneers pushing like RP Boo, Traxman, DJ Spinn, DJ Rashad bringing it overseas, You have to also thank Planet Mu, Honest Jons & Tim & Barry for bringing them through to new audiences though.

These are some of my favourite things to come out of the scene.

While the Chicago scene is the original and undoubtedly the best and I'm kinda sceptical of footworks purity outside chicago, the label/collective Booty Tune in Japan is doing amazing things.

You guys should check out EQ Why, DJ Remi, Jlin, DeeJay Earl, DJ Taye & a lot of the artists in the Teklife collective.
