Why is the regular pocket alignment good enough for the FW and insulated field jacket, but not the LT?

All 100% Nylon face fabrics now? I coulda swore I saw cotton blend face fabrics in the descriptions the other day.

I doubt arc'teryx wants to go through recalling a bunch of jackets either. 

 

the partition ar is listed as a nylon/cotton blend. it would make sense for the galvanic and partition to share the same fabric package. however, the cs rep who handled my replacement told me the new galvanic had a nylon face fabric. at any rate it wouldn't be the first time product descriptions on the site aren't up to date.

 

I guess they must have just updated it. This makes me happy though.

Veilance said the Galvanic and Partition will be available in November, but the rest of the line is already out. I was looking to replace my black FW14 Galvanic with the new version, but now I'm unsure if I should exchange for the Monitor instead or wait for the new Galvanic. Also, I've never had a problem with my Galvanic after a winter of heavy wear in rough climate. The waterproofing has regressed in some areas, no tears, the black dye/outer has peeled off a bit but very minimally.

I was considering purchasing the Partition Coat from SS15 collection, but with the new Partition AR coming out I'm not sure which one to get. Can anybody comment on the difference between Gore-tex 3L and Gore-tex 3L superlight in terms of waterproofness? Does the SS15 version have a 2 way zipper like the AR version has?

Waterproof is waterproof. No less or more about it. However, the superlight will probably pack a little smaller, weigh a little less and might be more breathable in lab conditions.

I also got this response from the AV rep when asking them a similar question about the differences in the Partition Coat:

 

The Partition AR has a face fabric of 80 Denier nylon versus 40 Denier for the LT version of the coat. The higher the weave of the Nylon, the higher the number and durability of the product.  The AR coat is therefore more suitable for Fall/Winter use. The Gore-Tex membrane itself is the same on both products. The membrane keeps you dry, however the Nylon face fabric is what makes a product durable.

The AR is also slightly bigger and therefore more suitable for layering. We made a last minute change on the face fabric of the product and it is currently still in production. The actual release of the Partition AR will be in November 2015.

The new Arcteryx store in London is open, just got back from there. Great selection of Veilance stuff, most of the new season is there and the pieces that are missing are due in mid-late September. Staff are a little too overfriendly, almost stalker like in their approach, constantly hovering around you. Still, probably the best in-store Veilance range I've seen in Europe tbh.

Decided to exchange my old Galvanic for the new Galvanic in black, mostly because I don't like the design of the Monitor as much. They also said the Patrol has been discontinued. I think the black Galvanic is one of the most versatile pieces of outerwear. It goes with a variety of aesthetics. I wore it equally with geobaskets and sidezips last winter. Also Japanese retailers style it well with workwear.

do you mean the insulator that comes with the patrol coat? i have a black small if you are interested. as well as the patrol if you want both.

I do have the patrol including the insulator that comes with it, but I was after the single insulator jacket, as its less shiny than the one that comes with the patrol. Thanks though

why not just get this seasons Mionn IS jacket? It's pretty much an updated version of the insulator minus the front chest pocket. I could be wrong but it seems like it's also warmer with 80gsm + 60gsm coreloft vs. just 60gsm in the original.

Veilance got a small shipment of the new Galvanic IS, mine is on the way after shipping them my old one, will post pictures when it arrives.

The hood seems a bit bigger but I'm not positive; otherwise haven't noticed any changes in design. The zipper isn't as hard to use. Sorry for dirty socks pics.

 

Edit: Veilance said the design is the same except for a new nylon face fabric and a new zipper. I had noticed discoloring on my previous Galvanic, some of the edges turned white from repeated wear. The zipper was hard to use at first but only in the first month or so during the the break-in period. The new nylon feels the same, a bit stiffer though I'm sure it'll soften with wear.

I don't recall the IS ever having a snap closure at the collar. I'm guessing that's an LT from just before they went to the slanted breast pocket.

Got a Partition coat and didn't realize it's basically a super thin goretex layer that goes over a suit.

 

Thought it would be an actual "coat".

 

Anyone interested in trading/buying? It's Medium Black, brand new. Regular Partition, not Partition AR.
