Dry Denim is fun, but lets talk about washes

I have a couple pairs of dry denim now, and I'd like a few pairs of jeans that are washed not dry and look great..

Some of the PRPS washes look really nice to me, but may be a little expensive. Some of the Ernest Sewn I seen looks nice too, I'd love to see some of the washes u guys own/recommend.

Everyone needs a break from dry denim now and then

In addition, I would say :

Acne Jeans http://www.acnejeans.com

A.P.C. http://www.apc.fr

Imperial Denim http://www.imperial.st not much on the website though, search for haptronic's posts in the 'What are you wearing' thread, his Dukes black washed are just gorgeous

Also, some Dior Homme washed jeans are nice, but really expensive for what it is...

edit :

I almost forgot the only pair of washed Nudies that looks right, Regular Ralf 'Authentic Deluxe' selvage... http://www.nudiejeans.com & http://www.mynudies.com ;

and Julian Red Hoboken Nikki Sixx http://www.fos5.com for a skin tight fit.

The Acne "Dry clean" wash is the best pair of washed jeans I've ever seen. Amazing.

minya : That's exactly what I thought when I first saw them in a shop few months ago, they're just beautiful... icon_smile_wink.gif

Handlethevibe : I don't know if you had the opportunity to see them 'for real', but actually they look about a thousand times better in person than on the website (which is the case for all their denims unfortunately)... icon_smile_cool.gif

I guess we all know that washes, like everything in life, are all about taste! I wash Blue Jeans for a living and most of the brands mentioned I have worked with/On. I mainly work on ROGAN/LOOMSTATE/EARNEST SEWN/LVC and PDC. I said all that to say this.....every wash is done by hand and through these hand apps, many different artist are working on them, but i can assure you that all the washes that these high end brands do, are out there for you guys to make your own. Keep postin which ones you guys like because I can Promise you that the best in the buisness read this website everyday.

FWIW, the most impressive washes I've ever seen were probably Replay jeans from about seven years ago. It was a time when the general standard of washes was lousy- I walked into their shop in Rome, they had a range of essentially 501 ripoffs, and for a few seconds I thought I was looking at a wall full of vintage jeans. Their more recent washes are pretty good, although I don't like their styling, but back then they seemed way ahead of everybody.

AFAIK, it was Replay and Diesel who've always had some of the most advanced finishes, thanks to Adriano Goldschmied, who developed a lot of finishes with Martelli. Since then I've seen a lot of good washes, the ones that Bart Sights came up with for the LE LVC of a few years ago were great, but those Replay ones were the first that really looked like old jeans.

I'm not a fan of the built in wrinkles, primarily because their placement depends totally on the height of the person..I tried on these PRPS' once, and the wrinkles were 3/4 down my calf..not a good look.

This mighn't be a popular suggestion but i like some of Blueblood's washes...enough so that I bought a pair of them.

Those washed Sugar Canes are fire...the front reminds me of Bathing Ape's washes a bit but then I saw the back and was floored...definitely one of the better washes I've seen.

DJ_Flame: The one-wash sorahikos are nice, but are you referring to the dark jeans? I dunno...for some reason I still associate that with raw denim, it's almost the same look to me. 45 RPM's (distressed) washed jeans are the shit though...i love Spotted Horsecraft's wash techniques. Not so much a fan of the newer Sorahiko blue distressed model, it seems a bit plain for that kind of price, but I love the old Sorahiko model (both for the wash and slimmer fit). Speaking of Spotted Horsecraft i'll throw Yohji Yamamoto jeans up there too...they got some sick washes.

My favorite wash ever is probably Dior Homme's S/S 05 orange overdyes...the perfect blue jean IMHO, subtle, clean with just enough edge that it stands out. The original black whiskered jeans are also tough as shit, a bit harder to pull off but the look of that jean stands out like no other...really aggressive.

Those Earnest Sewns posted above are really nice too, I like the baked in creases of the back knee.

Jean Shop seems like they have nice custom washes. In the new GQ, Pharrell is sporting a pair that doesn't look too shabby and the price seems reasonable given today's prices and the quality of denim and all, $240.

I like the more subtle ones by LVC and love the natural fades from Helmut Lang. Cruising around Japanese sites you can find some washes that look amazingly authentic. Still, nothing beats the real deal, so I break mine in and buy vintage. A the prices of distressed jeans these days you can buy some well broken in Big E's.

Carpe Denim! (not the jean brand silly!)
