yeh the designer has seemedto adopt a mix of bits from various designers already out there i cant see anything wrong with collection but still nothing grabs me, it has been said before hes young but i feel maybe he is trying to run before he can walk just be patient and wait til you are sure you can do your own thing.

The pieces are easily identifyable as others the coat above the collar is probally a copy of obscur

baboo cardi - boris bidjan

numerious refrences to rick and julius

ccp mask

and its not like we dont know where he gets these refrences from

He has mixed them up but the people who is aiming for have seen it all before and own the orginals, he is ment to be a designer not a stylist.

The original garments here are maybe the waistcoat and the back zip top, which i dont really like either.

The fact he used cole mohr to close the show what the fuck does that say he is just trying to fit in with every other designer in a already crammed market.

I feel he is starting out to early unless he is just doing this with bussiness and not creativity in mind. Cause his price point is lower, well then fair enough but it doesnt grab me.

"people will pay for orginality in a ression" this just doesnt have any

People say first impressions count and there is no personality here for me to get a refrence from the desgner so i feel he has to do something specail next season to redeem himself...?

Also i cant say the name, font, concept etc really appeals to me 'THE DARK LORD' yeh cheesy or what, i mean cheese is good sometimes but he doesn't do this with any tounge in cheek.

fair enough the collection was styled nice but thats the problem its only nice you need some contraversary this doesn't have it.

Was in Vegas last week and stopped by the speak with Austin. The pieces are all beautifully cut. The creative work in most of the garments lay in the complicated forms that were made with such simple ideas and details.

The leather work is pretty spectacular up close. The long deerskin coat actually doesn't have any pocket bags: it's two layers of leather sewn together with cut very precisely to make a pocket. One of my favorite pieces was the cotton hoodie. I had been planning on buying a Gimp hoodie, but I like the Odyn one much better.

The basics are a lot like Rick/Julius/blah blah blah, but everyone is making rame basics nowadays. And that scarf is gorgeous in real life, too. Amazing texture and ginormous size.

i dunno, i just dont know

the fits are awkward, especially on the sleeves. Also am I the only person that thinks those collars are RIDICULOUS?

i like the vests... shearling and that hooded bomber. I also like the suede backzip jacket thing.

the rest is dull and unoriginal in a saturated market. i see no reason to purchase an odyn vok tank over a rick owens or WHOEVER other than pricepoint if thats really an issue for someone spending $180-240 on a tank...

i agree with this. I respect the collection a lot, but i'd rather just spend a bit extra and get the 'real thing' for certain pieces. If i was in love with something that he had that was super original, i'd buy it, but if its just trying to be another garment why not spend the 60 extra for it of whatever. I like variation but i also dislike settling.

like gbc said, the cut of the pieces are amazing and they truly look stunning from up close. the quality is there, and the fits really didn't seem awkward, i even thought it seemed pretty comfortable. as for the collars, well you have more than one option, I guess that it's a personal choice here.

i want to get this. (you could barely see the cape while she was coming down until she turned, that was a nice surprise):

and the scarf looked awesome as well

since it seems to be a general assumption, I thought I'd mention that the tanks are somewhat different from the RO ones.. the material is completely different, its more like a t-shirt fabric made from really smooth rayon, as opposed to the sheer materials Rick uses. the cut is a bit different as well depending on the model, so the similarity is basically the rounded hem. not saying that it doesn't look similar overall, but as someone who has both tanks I'd say they are not the same thing. I wear my RO tank as a layering piece because of its sheerness, but the OV tank can be worn on its own without it looking too porno.

i've seen some of this stuff in person... not this particular collection, but ss09. it's aw-ight. a bit derivative, but not bad. the prices are a bit extreme for someone this new, but i can underastand why, in a way. materials, production, etc.

This isn't my style at all, but actually, I am more impressed with this collection than anything i've seen from owens, julius or diet butcher. I think his aesthetic is similar to some of those guys, but I really doubt anyone would go through that much effort to duplicate another designers collection. I really doubt that's why he's in the business. Also, I don't think the fact that he's new to the designer world, Odyn should'nt compromise his prices if the fit, design, and fabrics are actually of superior quality, and exlusive. I mean, that's the only reason I fork over good dough, is to know that I'm buying something that's worth the price, not just that it's a "name" that indicates status. Whatever the case is, the models all look extremely well fitted. I think Odyn Vovk will make it

I've tried most of the FW09 pieces on personally...and can say without a doubt that I was thoroughly impressed. A lot of it didn't seem quite my style on the runway(and some of it still isn't), but the pieces look good in person. The long cowhide trench is definitely the standout IMO, and that's where my money will go.

As far as OV being "derivative", or following along the lines of other designer's pieces...be that as it may, those implications can be made about any designer. If I'm not mistaken, there's a "student work" section over at SZ where a certain poster in this thread has obviously taken direct reference, and it shows in a unmistakable correlation with ma+ and ccp...hmmm...
