Ooe-Yofukuten & Co.

Ooe's denim does seem to shrink more than most, especially on the initial wash. I sized up 2 compared to most jeans (33 instead of 31), and got a perfect fit on my pair. The total shrink in the waist after a hot wash and dry was around 2.25".

Others will be able to give you a better impression of how it stretches. My pair has not stretched out much (maybe it's at 31.5-32" in the waist), but I also sized the jeans so the maximum shrink would be a close fit rather than very tight around my waist.

It's a shame Ooe aren't selling them on their own website anymore. That Barn Stormer website gives me a headache and they have sold out of my size already.

Oh well will try another make as not waiting another year for them to produce a couple of pairs in your size and sell them on a different website..

I just bought a pair of OA02 on a whim from Barnstormer. It was super easy to order but then I grew up sending cash by airmail to get seven inch Hardcore records months later and I think we're spoiled these days!

SM, what size did you purchase from them? Is it add 2inches from your actual waist size as suggest by Ooe in their instagram?

For me part of the appeal of Ooe was the small run team which you order direct from themselves. Nice easy web site to use, prompt dispatch of order which arrived in a nice black box with a note from them. Never paid a penny in import duty too. All for £90 less than the cost of the current Ooe Contest pair on the other page.

Barnstormer have sold of out my size anyhow.

Anyone noticed any changes in the cuts from Ooe over the years? Maybe they made new patterns after they stopped doing custom orders?

I might be completely wrong but as far as I can remember the Travelling Pants world tour had a lower rise and trimmer top block than my current pair of OA02XX (and I tried to consider size 35 vs size 36).

We just released our collab with Ooe!

For our OA02-510 jean, we started with their classic 02 fit, which is very similar to a 1960's 501 with a medium rise and a slim tapered leg.

We made some small tweaks to make them our idea of a perfect jean. We lined the back pockets to prevent wallet blow-out. The chainstitch on the hem is our signature orange. The hip pockets are two inches longer to accommodate our bigger telephones. Our paper collaboration patch is printed with our slogan "Own fewer, better things".

The pocket bag stamps are inspired by Japanese pilgrimage stamps, a tradition dating back over 1200 years that continues today. Sacred temples and shrines each have a unique seal, and visitors receive a stamp of the seal, which is collected in a special booklet called a go-shuin-chou. The stamps are proof of the visit, a physical mark representing the experience.

The collaboration jeans are a stamp booklet themselves, receiving a stamp from each group involved in the jeans' journey, from Japan to California, and on to each wearer of the jeans.

Ryo and Hiro Ooe designed a seal representing their family's history in the region of Ichinomiya. They use a wood block hand carved by Ryo Ooe to stamp the seal on the right pocket bag.

We designed a stamp representing the history of streetcar transit in the Temescal district of Oakland, and co-owner Jeremy Smith of Standard hand-stamped the left pocket bag.

We invite you to stamp the jeans, to leave your mark on them, to represent your participation in their journey.

This time around, we had Ryo and Hiro give the jeans a rinse before shipping them to take any surprises out of buying a pair of unsanforized jeans.

Wow! Seriously awesome collab, congrats on such a great pair!

Thanks!  There's more to come....

Really like the stamped pocket concept!

Thank you - it was the best way to express how important this project was to us.

The extra-deep pocket bags is also a fantastic touch. Hope that catches on, it would definitely be a new design fad I could get behind.

We're going to try to roll it out on all our future collab projects.
