where the online players at?

i've been losing alot at absolute poker.... i recently switched to bodog... alot less bad beats... lots of donks... alot of players try to buy the pot. i'm still down though. i don't know when to stop. i deposited $20 and got up to 80 but i started playing stupid and lost it all. i'm thinking i'm depositing too little. i usually play the .05/.10 nl or pl or the $0.50/$1.00 fixed. if i have money i'll play the 1/2 fixed.

does anyone know how i can get hand histories on bodog into databases? i'm trying to get it to work with poker grapher. poker tracker doesnt support bodog

I'd keep the money on Bodog as I think it's the softest site, but you definitely need to get some sort of bankroll going. 20 bucks isn't going to last you long at 10NL no matter how hot you run. If you're serious and you can afford to do it, put 100-200 bucks on and just stick to the 10NL games and move up once you have 20+ buyins for the next level.

Once you get better, move your money over to Full-Tilt or PStars since both have much better game selections.

Anyone play?

I've been playing for about 5 years...

I used to play 3-4x a week now I play a few times a month unfortunately...

In casinos I play $1/$2 No limit. I live in New Jersey so Atlantic City is not that far from me...

I tend to win in casinos, but not too much.

The home game I used to dominate weekly, (making more there than at my day job)

I love the competetion of the game, its my mind vs everyone elses.

Sure luck plays a part, but reading players, making them make decisions, making the right decisions at the right time... its a great mental challenge, and the pay off is $... this is why I find it so fun.

Anyone else out there?

I used to play a lot in college. Not so much now that I'm working full time, not to mention that period when every single poker site decided to either stop taking US customers or made every transaction a total hassle. I used to goto AC a lot too. Usually played 1/2 or 2/5 at the Trop.

I really wish I caught the poker bug earlier. Online games were ridiculously juicy for a while. The smart kids who caught on early in high school were able to grind out a couple of hundred K by the time they hit college.

Yo just gonna apply for a credit card tomorrow and wanna set up an online account somewhere to throw a little $$$ around.

I wouldnt mind playing some poker, blackjack, etc.

Also maybe bet on some sports/horseracing sometime in the future. Any sites allow you to do all these? I've played online games before but just for fake money so I'm completely new to this, so a site that isnt overly competitive (although most prolly have their ups and downs with this) and easy to navigate through/use. And reputable... if you have first hand experience that you could share that'd help.

I was looking through some sites last night and came across Bodog, anyone have experience with it? good, not good?

Also any with signup promo's on right now would be good too. Like free 15$ or tokens or whatever.

Thanks

Pokerroom.com

hollywoodpoker.com

pokerstars.com

Ive played on both pokerroom and hollywood (both share the same servers).. The customer service is phenomenal. Only problem is if u live in the US, they've banned all us players from using their sites due to something that had happened ( i forgot)..Like a new law in the US or something..

You can use Visa/Mastercard or various other sites that are affiliated with that site so that you can deposit your money between your bank account and the sites account.. Very easy

bodog.com is a good site, some times I would take bad beats and would call them up and they would give me some money back. They have all 3 things - casino games, poker room and sports betting. You get a lot of guys that win money on the sportsbook and are easy sharks on the poker tables,

But...thanks to the legislation passed last spring (assuming you are in the states), i dont know how to get money on there anymore. I used to have a bank account linked up and it was a one click deal to get money on. Since then, I deposited money once and I had to western union money to some foreign country and then make some phone calls to actually get it on.

If you figure it out let me know,

Parker

Use Will Hill mostly. Bet Fair is the best site for sports gambling (best odds) ... but both these sites are UK/ Europe based; so dont know about US access.

Used Pokerstars ... like most sites it'll have a sign up bonus but you will have to spend a bit to claim it. Decent enough standard.

Cant remember exactly but I think Will Hill has a higher rake than Pokerstars but not sure. I like the link WH has between sports and poker though ... handy.

Those sites are pretty safe imo. You can shop around for deal and stuff; "free" money when you sign up etc but I'd suggest you look into the sites rep before you commit to anything.

yea if you're from canada, then your fine.. As long as you use your mastercard/visa on pokerroom, youll be fine..

I use pokerroom alll the time and its great.. The rakes are awesome, they have amazing tourneys on saturdays ( lucky dollar, 5K frenzy, frenzy freezeout, 10K rebuy, list goes on)

With lucky dollar, you can win up to 5k just by using one freakin buck lol.. I strongly suggest, for a canadian to use pokerroom. Ive used it for over a year, not a single complaint. And with our canadian dollar booming, we actually pay less to deposit lol:cool:

Bodog- If you deposit with a credit card, then you have to do a credit card verification to withdraw money( Kind of a hassle taking photocopies of your liscence and card then faxing it to them)

Full Tilt Poker- Great if you love poker games. ( Depositing is kind of a hassle Maybe Neteller will work with you since you aren't in the US) They pay for all your transaction fees by the way.

Poker Stars- same as Full Tilt but WAY more players so twice the sharks but offer the highest stakes of poker out of any site.

i strongly suggest to stick to one site especially if both sites share the same server.. What happens is that because ur using the same IP address on both sites, they can track you down and ban you for it. The reason for that is because of cheating..( This only happens when you try to play in the same tourney with two names.. However, you can play more than one tourney under the same account name.) Hope that wasnt confusing

And no you cant use money that is on one site to use on another. Just a quick warning. Same server, different tourneys but still incorporates the same rule overall in terms of accounts. If you deposit on pokerroom, your money is on pokerroom, vice versa

being a canadiian you can pretty much go with whatever, william hill and ladbrokes are good customer service-wise, but they are not going to have the best lines on a regular basis. also it will depend on the sports you want to bet on which book u will choose, but a big sports book like the ones i suggested cover most all sports and have lots of prop bets available.

as for poker all the big sites are pretty good. most sites will send you a check when you want to cash out, which is the simpleest (you can't cash out to a CDN credit card.) however i would recommend setting up a NETTELLER account and linking it to your bank account. the neteller acct is also good becasuse then you can move your money around and get bonuses, which is probably the best way to make money playing online poker.

also you should not be afraid of losing money, online play at least the lower levels is really weak. good luck!
