firebad 10 Posted July 1, 2005 I know some people on here skate, and I'm in the market for some new skate shoes, so I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. I'd prefer them to be reasonably inexpensive, since they won't be (one of) my main pair(s) of shoes. I also have wide feet, another point to consider, though I think most skate shoes tend to be pretty good on that front. Also, even beyond recommendations, are there any skate shoes companies that you guys just plain like? Any preferences?
rhythmandsound 38,914 Posted July 1, 2005 I'm pretty much on a Vans kick these days and am not really feeling any other skate shoe brands... Half Cabs or Chukkas, that's it... Although recently I've been tempted to skate in some Reebok Workout Lo's or Mids or some Fila Original Fitness again....

rhythmandsound 38,914 Posted July 1, 2005 the only SB's worth skating in are Dunks or FC's and they don't last any better than half cabs or chukkas! Besides, discrete shoe-goo touch-ups keep 'em going for a while... bapesta's? i hope you -are- lying

Cue 17,260 Posted July 1, 2005 Vans TNT are nice for a couple of skates and then seem to blow out - people swear by Andrew Reynold's pro model - never tried them myself ...

TragicBliss 122,642 Posted July 3, 2005 I have a thing for being able to feel my board. And a thing for vulcanized natural gum rubber outsoles. Call me crazy. I skate in cheap Vans Era's, a half-size too big, with an SB insole from a pair of dunks. Crazy board feel and super cushion. Put on a thin layer of shoe-goo with an ice cube to prevent them from blowing out too quick. Vans Rowley Originals and Slims I dig too. As well as Emerica Reynolds 3's

Those air trainer max 91 Bo Jackson joints were nice too...Looky here, it's just the way the cookie tear. sr20det 7,321 Posted July 4, 2005 jup, nike did make a trainer sb. only one colorway i think. "thrust, kill, destroy, stress"
weiyung 28 Posted July 5, 2005 I just got the nike team edition sb, they are great cool shoes, but I don't plan to skate in them.
powerglov 928 Posted July 11, 2005 eS Accels are the best shoes I've ever skated. Dunks feel great but wear out way too fast. Shoe Goo is godsent. My buddy is skating some of the DGK Reebok Workout; I'm tempted to try em out too.
aitsuka 2,329 Posted July 11, 2005 I used to skate on a pair of DC mantecas, now its just vans old skool cause I can rock them when I am not skating also, nice. -don't hate, appreciate-

just rob 10 Posted July 11, 2005 accels for sure. definently one of the best skate shoes in circulation. simple design stands tall above the rest.
stickykrylon 29 Posted July 11, 2005 believe it or not, the vintage rod lavers are good for those who like more feel of their board.. the adidas Comptown STs are pretty dope too, for those with wider feet, though those don't have the best ventilation - think they're coming out with mesh versions in a couple months. dig.
