Sugar Cane Denim

Don't count them chickens.. that's the same pair of jeans they used to demonstrate fading potential back in 2019 when they announced the JSP-46's, i think they're just showing us the same pair with another 12months of wear...

Most obvious sign is the unusual crease down the fly and to a lesser extent the bartack runoff on the loop and the loose threads, above and to the right of the coin pocket.

...happy to be wrong though, i haven't translated the txt or checked the blog :)

suffixes:

N= raw/no wash
A= O/W
H= hard wash

This doesn't allways ring true, i have a pair of raw 47's here with a H suffix, ok they could have been destined for the hardwash treatment but never made it.. but ive often seen X, T, F allsorts of letters... sometimes no suffix at all :D

There's also the A, B, C… used to reference model year after inception of some of their early- / mid-2000s models

For how sensible Sugar Cane's number codes generally are, the suffixes really seem pretty useless

Perfect summer pair once I get the top button fixed.

"Begin - Just drift with groove"

Still keep digging for a raw pair 2nd hand in my size - have seen a few pairs popping up here and there, unfortunately not with a reasonable price tag yet...

*not mine*

At the time I posted it @mynudies back in 2008, I thought I had the hang of their designation game :blush: ... But, it proves hard to make sense of their coding system through the years ...  @julian-wolf @Double 0 Soul

Can someone help me size the Sugar Cane 1953 jacket correctly? I’m looking to pair it with my TCB 50s jeans so I’m okay with a boxy, non slim fit. I’m 5’9” 150 lbs, jean size 31 or 32 and I’m thinking of going with size 38. I don’t have a denim jacket that fits me correctly right now but my chest measures 38”. Thank you in advance for your help! I’m thinking of buying from Rakuten from Hinoya, anything I should know before I buy?

Thanks! they'll look better after a wash, speaking of which.. while ive been wearing those 46's in the evening ive been wearing some old SC-37's for lightweight summer work jeans.

These could really do with a wash!

fullsizeoutput_276c

They were heavily washed when i bought them vintage but most of the wear is mine.. ive owned them for years but only just got around to wearing them at work through the summer months.

fullsizeoutput_2770

They're holding up amizingly well to say they're 20+ yrs old :)

Hey lads, I’m having a look at denimio and this brand is cheap and looks good quality. I only know momotaro Dior PRPS Flat Head and Kuro and I’m looking for some 14-15 oz jeans for the summer. I’m not into high waist trousers btw. I just can’t see much difference between the models they have besides the colour. Are they all straight?

They’re not all straight and not all high rise, but will probably be a bit higher and straighter than your norms momotaros/TFH. I’m adding a picture from their 19/20 catalogue that’ll maybe help you have a better understanding of the fits, and maybe you can compare the models to the ones that Denimio have(although Denimio still do proxy as far as I’m aware so you can ask them for any model).

Hey does anyone have any Hawaii, Edo Ai, or Okinawa denim scraps? Have a repair project and want to incorporate some interesting denim. I'd be happy to pay.

I cut up a beat up old pair of Oki's into 5" patches years ago.. i gave some of them away to folks on DB i'm sure i have some left in an envelope but i have no idea where they might be..

I have a trashed pair of pre-lawsuit SC-47's here which are only fit for patches, if you want to pay for international postage from the UK, you're welcome to them, i just want the leather patch, tab and some pocket bag material.

I made some jorts out of a pair of '47s so I have plenty of that denim laying around. But if you find that Oki denim, let me know! I would be happy to pay shipping plus a little beer money!
