Bike shop in New York

I am travelling to New York and might look for a new bicycle if I can find a cool one.So does anyone know where to buy a good urban bike?

I will also be checking out the Puma bike in the Puma shop, but I am really more interested in an urban bike, which is a kind of mountain bike frame with one gear, disc brakes and small, narrow wheels. I might be interested in other kinds too, so if you know a cool bike shop please let me know...

Check out the Marin Alps series they are sweet for the price and light I'm sure there is a dealer in NY. These are geared bikes though, if you want a single speed mtn bike usually you

will have to put road tires on them which is not too expensive. For these models check out

Surly,Kona and Independent Fabrications all of these manufacturers make nice single speed

mtn bikes and have different price points. as for which shop to go to I have no clue but you

can check their websites and they will have dealer locations.

i heard good things about them. but for road and mountain bikes, i go to Conrad's Bicycle Shop on 41st Street in Tudor City (across the street from the UN). it's a mom and pop shop. they have all the best bikes (Seven, Colnago, Pinarello, De Rosa, etc.) and they know their shit. my dad's been goin there since the 70's and i've been a customer since i started getting into cycling in the 90's.
