haha sons of criminals making good wine? Well I guess no one make moonshine like Americans...

If your after Aus wine, good regions to look out for:

Barossa Valley - Shiraz

Margaret River - Cabernet Sauvignon

Hunter Valley – Semillon

Mornington Peninsula – Pinot Noir… etc.

Really Jacobs Creek is pretty lowly Australian wine, it seems the good stuff never gets exported.

I recomend Inniskillin Reisling. Cheap, but does the job. Lovely icewine, balancing orange-marmalade sweetness against zesty acidity. Not overly heavy, yet completely mouthfilling, with hints of apple and orange blossoms on the nose.

its um...not ice wine. its just a riesling (while the grapes can be used to make ice wines, the straight up inniskillin is just a white, and its only a 1 at that...i think ice wines tend to be slightly, read: much, sweeter.)

I just go to Bevmo and buy the cheapest wine with an 88 or higher rating, haha.

Chateau de Brandey Bordeaux is working alright for me right now (got two bottles $6 ea on sale).

I've liked RH Philips Toasted Head Merlot in the past.

Columbia Crest's Merlot was pretty good, had a vanilla kick that I can still remember. Their stuff is cheap too.

So how many of you alkies down a good bottle a day? I've been into wine heavy for about a year now. My favorite type of wine a.t.m is a good california cab. My favorite brand right now is Quintessa for a special ocasion and Hess cab for an everyday wine. Let's get some opinions in here.

This is what it's all about. I'd rep if I could. Just some of the qualities of Stanley wines, direct from their web page.. "Today the Stanley Wine Company is proud of being one of the lowest cost producers in the Australian wine industry..."

For more nice things about the Stanley wine company.. http://everything2.com/e2node/The%2520Stanley%2520Wine%2520Company

My sister use to work as a substance abuse councilor & she dealt w/ poor, stinky addicts in a shitty Midwest town. The drunks always bought those big boxes of cheap wine & would take the bag w/ the wine in it out of the box. They then would put the bag in their coat and attach a straw so they could simply walk around & drink their shitty wine.

They affectionately called it "spacebagging."
