Samurai Jeans

Yes. It's cool but that figure seems high for an unlined canvas jacket.

I pegged it for a $250-300 jacket at best, but what do I know? Probably cost that much to make

No, it most certainly didn’t

Interesting. The Samurai website has it for $552 or something. I’ll look around at other Japanese retailers

Samurai website is very expensive. Try to look elsewhere.

It’s just that percentage game we suffer - a $500 jacket like that probably cost about (broadly) $100 … the majority is mark up and obviously because it’s done by percentage the cost is grossly exaggerated

I suppose, to be fair to the US seller, they have shipping & import duties to factor in. I'm surprised Samurai is also selling it for $500+.

Maybe they don’t want to undercut their international retailers?

There's still plenty of old stock available on 2ND, Denimio, and other Japanese retailers, but a couple years ago they rebranded and substantially toned down their classic details. I recently picked up pairs of S0510xx and S3000vx in protest.

Thanks, so far from what i have found, these are some of the websites that ship to the states without proxy. are there any others that im missing? they don't neccessarily have to stock samurai or ship to the states.

Samurai S3000vx for Indigo Invitational, one month of wear. These are coming along nicely, the Zero denim fades quickly. Should look great in a few months.

Can anyone comment on the fit of Samurai’s flannel shirts? If I wear an xl in other Japanese brands should I go xl with Samurai?

Sorry to quote a post that's over a year old... sufu isn't the same as it used to be. How's the fit on these? Is it what I should expect from the S5000? Would love to see pics if you ever got around to it.

Has anyone bought from Samurai directly that lives in the USA? What was the experience (shipping time, duties, taxes, etc) like?

Edit: Just bought a pair of 710s from there so will let you know :-)

hows the current 19oz denim? 710 is a great cut no question why it was preeminent in early sufu times

The 19oz denim is great! A lot less stiff than I was expecting. Rough, and dark but with ample uneven weft showing through. Just an hour in and they are softening up around the waist nicely. Forgot what it was like to have sore thumbs from the first time buttoning them up, those buttonholes are no joke. Excuse the dirty mirror in the pics below. Keeping the stacks since I ride a moto a lot and need it to cover my boots when sitting.

@reallypeacedoff Nice!

I scored the same pair, one-wash, from OD a few months ago for a good price. Wore them for a day just to experience them. I've been wanting to try the 710 cut for years. I like it, bt the rise is a little higher than I prefer. The 19oz denim is indeed rough, in a good way, not contrived. I need to get mine hemmed. I'm not too fond of how much I have to cuff them, and how the heavy denim looks when cuffed that much (In hindsight, I should have had OD hem them for free since they're OW. Now I have to pay to get them hemmed + shipping). Looking forward to wearing them this winter.

Just loving these 19oz jeans. They don't feel like it until you pick up 14.5oz pairs and realize they are pretty substantial.

Picked up the S555VX25oz, I'm still on the hunt for a WW2 Type 1.  This jacket is beautiful, with lots of nice details.  This is the heaviest denim I own at 25oz so it will be an interesting experience.

Chest Length Sleeve Shoulder Opening
22.2 25.2 25 18.5 19.7

I'm a bit annoyed by the taper, to be honest
