Samurai Jeans

This is a follow-up to the post I made yesterday about S634XX-20th with cinch back. They are supposed to be modeled on the 501-1937 but I laid a pair of my old LVC-1937 (36x36) on top and the Samurai are much wider from the hip down to the hem. (The leg is described as a "Large Body Straight".)

I like the LVC 201 and 501 from the 30's with the stovepipe legs since I wear these at work but this Samurai model is so wide that it looks sort of ridiculous.

Here are the hand measurements on a pair of 34x36 raw & unsanfordized:

Waist........91

Fr Rise.....33.5

Bk Rise....42

Thigh.......34

Knee.......28.5

Hem......26.5

Inseam..97

EDIT:

These are limited edition for the 20th Anniversary. The photos here are of the first Edition S634XX but I have just read there is a 2nd edition now released and it has a different striker and has gold colored buttons and a rainbow selvage. I do not know if the hand measurements are the same for the 2nd generation compared to the 1st generation I have listed above.

From experience I found that Sams usually stretch back out to their pre soak size.

That has been my experience as well with all but my two pairs of 25oz which didn’t quite stretch all the way back out to the pre-soak waist measurement.

I haven't posted about these yet - I picked a pair of S511XX25oz-20th size 33 last fall. Washed once and I've just been sitting on them... I tried to wear them, but I can't do a such a slim cut. Waist is fine, but thighs are far too tight, and I can hardly move in them. Sizing up to a 34 would have a waist that's too big and feel like they're gonna fall off without gaining much in the thighs.

Gorgeous jeans. This 25oz-20th seems different bit different than my 25oz-15th. Darker for sure. It's a very luxurious denim. Very stiff with starch when new, but softens quickly. Samurai knocks the finer details on these flagship models out of the park. I especially love the pocket fabric on this pair. I really think Samurai's 511 cut is great, if the fit work for your body type. It has a good rise, and the  slim straight silhouette is great - not drastic taper from the knee to hem.

Measurements, raw vs once washed:

Waist: 33.0" / 30.5"

Front rise: 11.25" / 10.75"

Back rise: 15.0" / 14.0"

Thigh at crotch: 12.5" / 12.375"

Thigh 2" down: 11.5" / 11.375"

Knee @ 14" down: 8.875" / 8.5"

Hem: 7.75" / 7.25"

Inseam: 37.75" / 35.5"

They're for sale, DM if interested.

Those look great IMO, but if they're really uncomfortable then it makes sense to sell them off. I wish they had done the arcs the same way they do on the S710-19oz to match the color of the denim. I think that the light blue is really tacky looking (the rest of the details are nice though)

I wish samurai would do a cut with more generous thighs but an aggressive taper - basically the s711 with a smaller hem. Their slimmer fits are tight in the thigh, but look baggy below the knee on me (admittedly I've got stick legs).

I've just picked up the S0511XX in 35 waist and these have more room in the thigh than a FC 1108 but a decent taper.

Post 2nd wash measurements flat

Waist 34"

Thigh 12.5"

Hem 7.5"

Maybe the new 211 is something for you? Or the new 712 although I would need to see more info on the latter.

A google search didn't turn up anything on those two models. Any more info?

And to be clear, there are Samurai models that I like a lot (S710 is a perfect slim straight imo), I was just hoping for something that would come closer to my "ideal fit". I would love more info on those two models mentioned especially if they've got a more aggressive taper without being tight in the thigh. The S511 seems like a typical slim tapered fit without being overly tight fitting, not exactly what I'm looking for since the thighs are fairly slim.

211XX

nearly sold out at BiG but also available at DC4 and I think Corlection.

712:

Not as tapered as the 211XX as it seems. Something between 710 and 511 ifI see it right

Hi friends,

It's been nearly I decade since I last browsed this forum but I have a trip to Japan scheduled for later this year and it got me thinking that it would be the perfect opportunity to pick up a pair of denim. Samurai was the one brand that always evaded me back in the day, maybe because I was in high school and had no money or a combination of other factors, but now that I can, I'm looking to pick up a pair of jeans that I've always wanted.

I'm looking for advice from anyone that's ever been to Samurai's flagship store in Japan and what that shopping experience is like, or if you know of any places in Tokyo where I can get their jeans in the event that I'm unable to stop by their Osaka location. I'm also looking for recommendations on which models, I should be looking at. I have a slightly heavier build with big thighs and big calves but I do like a slim tapered cut. Out of curiosity, what are the best online retailers that carry Samurai right now?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm looking forward to your replies, thanks!

Thanks for the online retailers list, I realized after I posted that most of the info I was looking for was on the first page of this thread so sorry for that nonsense. I'll still look forward to making my way to their store in Osaka but it's good to know that it's a lot easier to get them online now that it used too. I'm just going to have to suppress my anticipation for 5 months.

This piques my interest... while wondering about the relevance of having ”regular indigo warp with natural indigo dyed weft”.

...GX-T was part of the Elements-Series.

probably the same denim and dying technique.
