you would have to go a couple of pages back in this thread to see if anybody actually bought the S5000KA24OZ.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem that anyone did.

The old fit-guide suggests ”down 2 sizes” on S5000 for a slim fit, but I guess these bad boys in tag size 30 are not entirely likely to sport 12” thighs post-shrink? Further, I could imagine that sizing down too much on light coloured pants might not lead to the most flattering of looks.

Yet I do remain intrigued by this. I love persimmons and Samurai’s 24oz. :/

I tried those on at BIG back in the day and they are wayyyy lighter than any other kakishibu dyed garments I've owned, even a pair of Sugar Canes worn and washed whenever for several years. Also quite pink under bright light. I don't recommend them.

that's what made me skip this more recent Samurai model back in the day...

here are some old pics of the original Lot.08 S5000KA model:

Eternal did a similar pair around the time of their 10th anniversary:

Easiest to hunt down should be any of the numerous SugarCane releases - here their 382 model:

I think the SC models all/mostly used a Nihon Menpu denim that was/is more regular, more widely available - your best chances at getting one (on yahoo.jp) and, frankly speaking, a very nice denim in a nice, warm colour that won't break the bank!

here a sample jacket from a Russian fashion brand using a washed version of said denim:

Apparently, the "Denimio x Samurai Russia Collaboration" is ready, available sometime soonish? S710 cut and Yamato denim, which sounds nice but too light for my preferences.

Up for pre-order at Denimio:

15oz, delivery in June 2019, US$336 at the present exchange rate but a bunch to be saved by ordering before December 31st.

Denimio is really overdoing the amount of collabs lately.
But this model looks at least very wearable and not horrible like some other collabs before.
In fact a good one. The 710 in a denim not done before (Yamato denim, right?) and the Kremlin patch looks nice

agree. Too many collabs, but this Russia one looks really good.

My S511SJC-AIs should be arriving Monday.  What do you guys want to see?

everything - pre-wash pics and measurements - post wash measurements...

take your time to break them in and, eventually, post fit pics and updated measurments.

+1 to what Foxy said. Please show everything! Those look damn good. I'm tempted, if only we didn't just do a major kitchen remodel...

Hi, sorry, I missed your post. Please tell us about the denim. It appears to be a loose, almost hand loomed denim. They say it’s the softest 19 oz denim they have seen. How about a closeup of the Denim? Thanks

Has anyone seen or purchased the S511SJC AI home grown jeans from Samurai? I see that Okayama Denim has them in stock. Any ideas who may else stock them? May be my first Samurai purchase!

@SparhawkJC did.

Rakuten has fair few sellers stocking these... Having said that, Okayamadenim is a good choice as you might want to engage them in English, to confirm the measurements before shipping.

Edit: Also, shipping from Okayamadenim is free, you’d be paying extra for that on Rakuten... Not that it’d be a huge additional expense considering these are 800€+/pair anyway.

Thanks, Critical Observer, they “ain’t cheap”, that’s for sure! The dimensions are reasonable, details nice but I have questions about the cotton and weave. Most of the hand loomed denim I’ve owned is a bit loose and Okayama Denim’s photos appear the same even though they are likely not hand loomed. Will need some first hand experience after talking to Merv at Okayama before shelling out the cash! I remember reading about the home grown on Samurai land cotton a while ago so will have to find the article. Seems I can’t resist an interesting pair of Ai dyed jeans!

@CatKillah it’s pretty nice, I was worried that it was too small when I first got it but it stretched out a little. Haven’t worn it a full day yet, planning on wearing it tomorrow and I’ll try to take some fit pics. Nice medium weight fleece, not too heavy or light. Soft too. The color is great, considering getting the ink blue as well now.

Thank you so much for the comment and the fit pics, they do look mad comfortable and great on you. Unfortunately they were sold out on BiG, but I'm sure I'll find them somewhere else.

You're going to have to thank Levi's for that. Until that latest lawsuit is settled, you're only going to only see brands without red tabs and arcuates online. If you're interested on following the case, its all on public record in the San Francisco courts.

I’ve been out of the game for some time now, and don’t have the motivation to go through 2 years of posts, but BiG still isn’t selling any of the “normal” brands on their site and have totally revamped their product offering. I’m guessing the lawsuit didn’t turn out well for them, or they just decided it wasn’t worth fighting and changed their business model accordingly. Bummer for the denimheads at least.

I would suspect that the market direction dictated BIG's current brand roster more than the effect of the Levis lawsuits.

Seems fewer people are buying heavyweight denim and with the rise of online sites like Denimo it's a very competitive market.

I visited BIG in the new york summer and also wondered how much denim they sell during the summer months.

Which cut in Samurai would have the smallest leg opening? is 710 the slimmest option out there?

I used to be a 30" waist and now I'm about a 32". The challenge I'm having is that I need about a 30" inseam, and once I reduce the inseam I'm losing a lot of taper.
