did you go to UW? Just curious because they hire tons of students.

regarding your question. You may as well start off by opening a high-interest savings account with your bank or something like ING direct. I put a certain amount of my paycheque into my savings account every month (something like 15%). I dont touch these funds in case of emergencies.

you probably want to budget the rest to make sure you can cover tuition/living costs, but the remainder i guess choose whats most important to you. I find it's better to focus your funds on something you really like / want (a hobby like DJing, or more lanvins) instead of wasting it all on mediorce shit/impulse buys

UW is correct homi.. i got lucky with getting the job tho..

Not much of a business/banking guy... whats the dif. between ING direct and actual banks? (cibc/TD, etc..)

My gf has a saving acct at TD with 3.5(or 3)% interest a yr.. is that considered high?

I think I'm not a crazy spender... spent $300 this yr of actual money(paypal not incuded) on clothes... dun have much to spend money on except for groceries and the car.. i should buy more clothes maybe.. :)

ing always pays a bit more, i think its 3.65% currently.

i find it alot more convenient to stay with my banks high interest account (around 3%) but theres no hold when i transfer funds back and forth.

with clothes it pays to be patient, supermarket or ebay can be a good source for cheap stuff, shit is overpriced in Canada.

i have some dior dauphin 19cm, that after grapist/exchanges/etc i paid probably around $385 total...

i feel apc new cure greys (approx $210) would be a better fit overall since they are slimmer..

But if i were to sell the dauphins i'd prob get only around $300-330 since they dont have much wear at all...

This could be quite the loss $85ish, and then i could buy new cures and its like i traded dior for new cure when you balance out the loss.. which in my mind is kind of ridiculous...

Now I can afford to get the new cures in addition to the diors...

Currently I want a slim, almost skinny grey jean which is the apc new cure for me...

The diors are a bit more relaxed even though they are sized down 2, 19cms, they are MII though... should i keep them just because i know in the future im not always going to be wearing super slim jeans and im going to want a more relaxed fit...

I DONT know what to do OMFG

FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS...

Looking for a part time job (college student), but retail sucks assss. Recommendations?

get something on campus, usually those jobs are the easiest.

i was an usher for a couple years which meant i just watched plays/concerts for free.

i knew people getting paid $14 at info booths to sit there and surf the net on a laptop. soo easy

you could also try being a waiter which is more stressful but more money

also call centers have alot of jobs but the work can be shit. The timing is sometimes flexible and you'll make more than working retail.

i saw the new cures in person and they didnt impress, the color is lighter than dauphins and be aware they're really light/soft denim.

they looked better in photos than in person imo, but they are alot cheaper.

to be honest it sounds like you dont even like your diors that much due to the fit and ur looking for an excuse to sell them. I havent seen a fit pic of them, but if thats the case you'd probably be able to get something you like more with the money u get from the sale.

personally i had to trade down to a sz 28 in my diors until they fit the way i like, they definetly fit and feel different than the MIJs i own as they are MII + stretch denim

yes.. fuck toronto.. although im very interested in going to sydney just to try shit on when they get their new stuff in..

i just found that HSBC has a 4.75% interest promo going on from feb4-may2 (interest of 4.75% will be applied during those 3 months).. and has a regular interest of 3.7%..

There's also a savings account at PC Financial that has 3.75% interest on balances of over 1000$ - which isn't a lot of money. Get a chequing account with them while you're at it, feel like a cheapass when using your debit card, but save money with no transaction fees

A girl ain't gonna solve your problems. If you really want to get out of that rut, you've got to overhaul your lifestyle, or modify parts of it that contributed to your $4500 debt (which is by no means bad compared to some horror stories of tens of thousands of dollars of debt from people/families all over the US).

Firstly, you've got to budget. Get all your statements for each CC you have, and tally down how much you owe on a piece of paper. Then cut up every card you have except for one for absolutely dire deathly emergency (maybe pick the one with the least amount of debt). Then pay that off as fast as you can for that backup card, then start working on your other cards.

Now, say goodbye to a social life, booze, shopping, takeaway food. Plan out everything you need on a weekly basis and go grocery shopping (use a list). Only pack lunches and prepare dinners, and prepare them in bulk and eat them later if you're cooking single-servings (easier to cook). Add up all the money you're saving and spending... then allocate a monthly amount you put those savings toward your bills. Make it reasonable but not too extreme.

You'll slowly chip away at it. Oh yeah, get another job, and don't get fired.

Or the other plan is to marry a rich chick and hope she dies...errr by accident.

im 22. no schooling whatsoever, just got fired from a shitty retail job, 4500 credit card debt, no girl, no money. i have no idea what im doing with my life? tell me what you would do in my situation...?

how the fuck did u get that much debt with such a shit job

go shove a dick up your nose for cash..

more constructive advice , get the first fucking job you can even if its shit ( i recommend porn shop attendant) and go from there. This way you'll have less time to contemplate eating a shotgun shell or jumping off a bridge

when u have nothing, fuck a girl and school, just get ur cake up na mean

I started eating ham and salami sandwiches everyday to save up for my gallery show... it kind of worked. I need to make some more for tomorrow actually. They taste disgusting after you've had like... 50 of them.

oatmeal and PBJ sandwiches son. most filling for as cheap dough

my default student meal was spaghetti and meatballs. buy jumbo packs of everything, and frozen meatballs (cheap for a huge box). heat the meatballs in the oven while your water is boiling

heat up sauce, serve.

ziplock dem bags or use containers, shit is easy and quick provided u have a microwave for later
