thanks for the info guys...Corter those Guitar picks are pretty cool...can you order leather directly from horween for none industrial production uses or do they only sell tot he big guys

.

For Chromexcel I would go through Maverick, they ship same day, and they have tons of stock on hand. Horween can take a loooong time to ship your stuff. I ordered a couple shells from horween one time and they didn't ship for like a month and a half. They just have a super small sales staff and a very large customer base. Ive had great luck with maverick for certain things, super nice people, and always some great deals on cxl seconds and stuff.

Lots of great stuff on this thread. Corter, you're on fire! I love the new designs and dyed leather.

Simon- I like the maker's mark very much. I just today bought a table made in Denmark, and I think you got the font just right. I'm thinking of having one made, myself.

I need some thread advice. I usually use waxed linen, but I want to switch to thinner thread for wallets. All of the thinner linen thread that I've tried breaks so easily. If any of you would care to share the type of thread you use, and a link to an online shop you like, it would be much appreciated.

My favorite after trying many different threads is still the Tandy 'sewing awl' thread (made to refill those nasty lockstitch awls).

http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/en-usd/search/searchresults/1205-036.aspx

It's finer, thinner, and less waxy than the other Tandy/Tejas stuff, and it's really strong and abrasion resistant. It looks nicer with smaller stitches.

Wish they had more color choices, but oh well.

I like the roping look of the sewing awl thread, but it feels horrible to me. I guess I just like using linen.

I only use Barbour linen thread (and I have a couple of polyester ones too), and I'm quite satisfied with it. I have been thinking about switching to a German brand, that I just recently discovered, but the name escapes me.

SEIWA thread is also quite good. But too damn expensive. And polyester if I remember correctly.

Thank you very much, Zissou. That table will serve you well, because Denmark used to make some of the best furniture.

Got a used 5D, it's really nice to have usable high ISO! today I finished up an order for a company that wanted some bifolds. Three colorways of the bifold I do with their branding in a heat brand, two are lined with antique/vintage fabric. I'm really happy with these, I switched stitching styles a few weeks ago and I'm finally getting the hang of the new style.

Have you hired some help or are your hands bleeding? :D

Well done, Corter

Haha, thanks! No help, just 12 hour days 6 days a week. Started alternating sewing/cutting days which helps, and started using a 4 prong diamond fork for some things which cuts down on 75% of my awl use which also helps. Hands are bleeding some days, Badger Balm helps!
