I used to have this small tank called a Nano cube it was pretty easy to maintain. It will run you about $100. It pretty much comes with everything you need for a small saltwater setup. (except fish)

either is easy to set up but saltwater is rather tedious to maintain. i've got two freshwater tanks (first tank about 7-8 months ago) and I love it.

I've had several, and will get another when I get my living situation in order.

A basic one is pretty easy--only if you read a bit about saltwater tanks first. This is another potential money pit (I'm assuming you're into more-expensive clothes too), and there can be costly mistakes if you don't use common sense.

Lurk places like reefcentral.com for a bit, decide what kind of tank you want, and just do a little research before buying stuff.
