^ i've bought issues 1 & 2, not sure if anything has changed since but the magazine is pretty decent for what it is imo... price is perhaps a bit more palatable if you see it more as a coffee table book than a magazine i guess? zero advertisements, which i really appreciate.

Asked my bookstore if they had the Raf (and Rick) / Terry Jones books, only to get told that they have a delay with the shipping of both and there's this book coming in October.

There's also the book of the Iris Van Herpen exhition at the Groninger Museum that is worth getting.

Can be ordered here.

edit: for a while, a thread about the future (of fashion) is something i've been thinking about making... which is something that i will do in the next days.

Finally got to browse the M/M Paris book (Rizzoli, 85$) yesterday.

The duo is one of the best and has worked with the best. It made me happy to hear they were getting their work published by Rizzoli, at the beginning of the year.

Nice format and nicely designed (the opposite wouldn't have been possible). Great thickness, too (it has 825 pages).

Browsed it quickly because I want to get it and take the time, to read it at my place (especially the parts of Balenciaga/Nicolas, Bjork and Yohji)

As with the previous i-D books (CdG, Yohji and Vivienne), the books are collections of interviews and pictures from previous issues of i-D magazines. Got get them if you want the pictures and interviews printed in a large format. Nice things to have, especially the portraits of the mud-covered, smiling Rick and Michèle.

Isabella Blow: Fashion Galore!

Pub Date: February 4, 2014

Text by Caroline Evans, Alex Fury and Shonagh Marshall,

Edited by Alistair O'Neill,

Photographed by Nick Knight

A beautifully photographed insider’s look at the highly influential personal style and wardrobe of Isabella Blow, one of fashion’s most courageous, outrageous, and imaginative muses. Isabella Blow was said to have been a one-off of her own creation in a world of copycats. She had a gift for spotting fashion genius—her discoveries included Alexander McQueen, Hussein Chalayan, and Sophie Dahl, all of whom became instantaneously iconic. Her eye put her at the center of the high fashion scene, yet Isabella’s pedigree, intoxicating energy, wicked sense of humor, boundaries-pushing aesthetics, and her willingness to wear the outrageous made her into a fashion icon. This elaborate volume—published with Somerset House and in association with the Isabella Blow Foundation and Central Saint Martins to accompany the fall 2013 exhibition—is an exhaustive survey of Isabella’s personal collection. With over 100 gorgeous full-color and black-and-white photographs shot exclusively for this publication by Nick Knight, this volume is the first to catalogue her own famous wardrobe that includes thousands of pieces by the most important contemporary designers, including McQueen, Philip Treacy, and Manolo Blahnik. The impact of Isabella’s influence can be seen within this captivating and inspiring volume, an essential addition to libraries of the fashionable, cultured, and eclectic.

Amber, Guinevere, and Kate Photographed by Craig McDean: 1993-2005

Pub Date: October 22, 2013

Written by Craig McDean,

Text by Mathias Augustyniak and Glenn O'Brien

With energy and glamour, iconic photographer Craig McDean captures the celebrated evolution of fashion’s biggest muses: Kate Moss, Guinevere van Seenus, and Amber Valletta. With their waiflike frames and unique features that contrasted with the supermodels of the ’80s, Amber, Guinevere, and Kate became the anti-supermodels that, alongside grunge, signified a global shift in culture. And Craig McDean, an artist with a talented eye for the striking and unusual, photographed them from their beginnings. McDean, whose works are praised for their conceptual and sophisticated edge, is well respected in both the photography and fashion worlds. Shot on film from 1992 through 2002, this roughly chronological volume of 150 color and black-and-white images includes never-before-published photographs, outtakes from famous shoots, and contact sheets. Texts by Mathias Augustyniak of M/M (Paris) and author Glenn O’Brien add depth and perspective to the works. The photographs within this volume capture the essence of an era that changed fashion forever and will be treasured by fashion, style, and photography lovers from all generations.

Yohji Yamamoto
Written by Yohji Yamamoto, Contribution by Wim Wenders, Steve McQueen, Charlotte Rampling and Takeshi Kitano

Category: Design - Fashion
Publisher: Rizzoli
Trim Size: 9-3/4 x 13
US Price: $115.00
CAN Price: $115.00
ISBN: 978-0-8478-4354-1
About This Book

Since the early ’80s, Yohji Yamamoto’s groundbreaking silhouettes and innovative design aesthetic have propelled him to the highest rank of the international avant-garde. Distinguished by his anti-fashion approach, Yamamoto changed the face of contemporary fashion, radically transforming it with asymmetrical and highly conceptual designs partly inspired by the techniques of traditional Japanese kimonos. His vision came as a refreshing contrast to the power suits and brightly clad fashions of the time, forcing a reconsideration of the future direction of fashion. In YAMAMOTO & YOHJI, this luxuriously bound book explores all the major themes in his forty years of counter-fashion design showing for the very first time his work not only on the Yamamoto brands but as well on his brand Y’s and these various collaborations in architecture, movies, plays, literature.

Illustrated with photographs by Craig McDean, Inez & Vinoodh, Max Vadukul and Nick Knight, each chapter elaborates on a particular theme—his sartorial philosophy, influential extensions into scenography, runway shows, monographic exhibitions, and costume design—and is anchored by an essay or interview that lends crucial insight to the story of Yohji Yamamoto, one of the most enigmatic and iconoclastic fashion designers of our time.

Ann Demeulemeester
Written by Ann Demeulemeester, Introduction by Patti Smith

Category: Design - Fashion

Trim Size: 6-1/4 x 9-1/4
US Price: $100.00

About This Book

The first and highly personal perspective into the work and processes of Ann Demeulemeester, one of the most influential and inspiring fashion designers of our time. Graduating from Antwerp’s Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1981, Ann Demeulemeester (and her contemporaries in the Antwerp Six) transformed global fashion with an aggressive restatement of traditional fashion design and a polemical approach to luxury trends. Influenced by punk, she founded her label in 1985 and imbues her designs with a strong narrative and rebellious spirit. For Demeulemeester, fashion is a form of communication. Her complex language of contrasts covers a whole gamut of emotions. The tension is highly poetic, and her clothes reveal many layers of soul. Known for her elegant tailoring and dark yet glamorous aesthetic, she created a serene and darkly romantic world with an intriguing mix of edgy rebellion and sophistication. This book is a tribute to Demeulemeester’s historical career, with over 1,000 photographs approximating some of the mystery and detailing associated with her brand.

About the Author

Ann Demeulemeester was born in Waregem, Belgium, in 1959 and graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. She and her husband Patrick Robyn established her label in 1985. Patti Smith is an American singer-songwriter, poet, and visual artist.
