Yeah, doesn't need to be much. Around 2500NT a night max.

Had a look on the usual discount hotel sights and found some alright looking ones in Ximending or Da-an (?) area. Just want an area that's good for food, bars and not too long a train/taxi ride home from where most clubs are at.

I've stayed here before:

Rooms were clean. Other guests were not shady. Less than 2500NT if you book ahead, I think. It's kinda on the northern side of ximending, a 7-10 min walk to the station right on chunghua rd.

I agree with Akura that ximending looks sketchy at night, but other than getting offered a couple of prostitutes around the area, I did not really see anything to worry about (specifically around this hotel, at least). If you've walked around downtown in any major city in the US, you've seen worse.

I was chillin inside a casino, and I think I saw one of your sets on FashionTV from when you were spinning in Tokyo, lol. Nice.

Nice, haven't seen it yet. They film my Tokyo event from time to time.

Hopefully back in TPE in December. Ironing out details now.

Halloween was nuts by the way. Props to all my TPE KAGs :))

If someone can show us around, that would be nice. We plan on partying quite a bit. About to go check out take 5 and faith, peace

Anyone know how to contact the famous belt maker Ken directly?

I know faith, Cherry Juice, Thurs, etc sell his belts, but I need something custom made with a heavier leather...

Unfortunately, no. I've gone through Kurt to have Ken make a specific belt for me previously. But Ken is notoriously slow about one-off projects. For example, my Ken X Faith belt was too long so I asked Kurt to have it shortened. He said he'd get it to Ken to take care of it. This was in early September and I still haven't gotten my belt back. So I suppose you could go through Kurt or maybe even ask Kurt if he can provide you with contact info. But just keep in mind his turn around time might be a while.

^ Thanks for the info. mate.

Damn, that's a long time.

I guess if I wanted some thicker, customised leather (which no doubt he will have to import) it will take even longer, assuming he'll take the project on at all.

A few spots came across this time in TW...

03 at Bellavita - stocks White Mountaineering (pants, 2 plain windbreakers, button downs etc.) , Phenomenon and Diet Butcher (mostly knit)... have 35% off at the moment on selected pieces.

Wu Fen Pu market - Pretty much a wholesale clothing market, a lot of locally produced Korean and Japanese patterns, mostly womens clothing but some really cheap basics and a few knits worth getting at $1-$10 AUD... bought a pile of socks and a few winter thermal tees. Can seriously haggle down when buying 10+ pieces, business cards help.

Eye glasses around Shilin market - Decent prices on Oliver Peoples, Ray Bans etc, prepare to haggle.

UPDATE: Stopped by Take5 today, friendly staff and a damn good selection. Nice to be able to check out the 21oz Iron Hearts in person.

Did you think Bellavita smelled funny? Everytime I go in there it smells like there is a sewage problem. Plus no one is ever shopping in their cause prices are jacked up.

Take5 is an awesome shop with a super friendly staff. I felt the selection was kind of limited in sizes though but they do have a nice selection.

Haha, I think they had the puff air fresheners going in some of the shops to notice. Yeah, was told that the department store was setup by a daughter of some mega-wealthy Taiwanese business man out of boredom and has been hemorrhaging money ever since. Apparently the retailers there are hurting bad.

Randomly, Muji is selling decent weight untanned leather belts for around 1k NTD.
