smoleu. their summer Yulesmith (iipa) is 10 times better if you see it around. their decadence is usually worth picking up also but those tend to be more barley wine styles. I think I should stop by there after work

now.

What are you paying for a bomber of Stone IPA, and Ruination IPA?

They're running around $7.5 in Boston, but there is this weird Russian market that somehow has relatively fresh Ruination for $5.99 a bomber.

happy hooligan: stones prices for IPA usually fluxuate with market price on hops but economy has caused most beer to raise in price. arrogant bastard can be upwards of $5 depending where your at. I got to try bootleggers brewery knuckle dragger IIPA and have to say it was damn good. if your close to LA and find any Alpine IPAs I'd recommend trying it as they have about 5 solid ipas off the top of my head. maybe we should start a sufu beer swap? anyone interested in trading rare/locals?

also. anyone else here brew aside from bdawg?

anyone else in

Stone IPA I usually buy in 6 packs, it's running 10ish a 6 pack now.. use to be 7.99...

Big bottles of bastard run either 4-5. IPA big bottles are about the same here, but I'm in LA...

I'll try the Knuckle Dragger, but that's not the coffee pepper one is it?

I'll look for Alpine too...

This summer I'm going to brew some of my own. I'm just looking for a good used set of gear.

Just picked up a case of Ithaca Flower Power IPA

Anyone had this before? I'm hearing some mixed reviews but enough positive feedback to give it a shot

FP-bottleglass.jpg

Very decent, not a hop monster, but very balanced, citrusy, flowery(insert joke whenever)

their knuckle dragged is a double ipa which was really

hoppy. if your looking to brew keep your eyes posted on craigslist because people will sell their setups cheap. If you want new you can piece them together by looking at different websites or even locally.

the band i'm in figured out the ideal beer for us to drink at our shows. we wanted something hoppy, light bodied, super drinkable (belgian gold yeast helps with that) but also really strong. So we're making a Belgian IPA! We're also brewing a quad for our first LP's release show/party, most likely in the early winter.

Cross post from the coffee thread:

Goose Island Bourbon County Barrel Aged Coffee Stout. It's their BCS brewed with Intelligentsia Black Cat Espresso beans. 13% abv. I actually probably shouldn't have drank it the other night when I did, I wasn't really in the mood for something so heavy. I didn't enjoy it as much as I would have had it been a bit colder outside or if I'd shared it. But as for flavor, you could REALLY taste the coffee, it tasted like a (very) alcoholic cappuccino

great doppelbock. great bottle.

yo did you get that in dallas or austin? looks pretty sick, and i haven't been able to find it in town yet.

getting NB's belgian strong pale blond ale tonight. An 8.5% blond just sounds too rad.

In other news, my band's Belgian IPA should be done fermenting this upcoming Monday or Tuesday.

have to say...

Just came back from Vegas and that town has no idea what beer is.

It's possibly the worst beer town in the USA. If it's not bud/miller/coors... it doesn't exist there.

^agreed, sierra nevada was the only thing they had that was decent on the strip. i heard there supposed to be some beer place in one of the casinos but i never really bothered to go look at beer that might be 3-4 times the price.

i got to re-try maharaja by avery last night, either my palate was just destroyed from dinner or i just didnt enjoy it this time around because it tasted really sweet so it ended up getting scrapped. whoever is going to my local beer spots and buying cases of pliny need to chill out, its not limited and your fucking up my fridays.

I did see there was an ad for a beer pub at one of the casinos, but the tag line was "... a wide variety of beers, like moosehead... " really moosehead is a great craft beer?

Okay, enough about LV... Just found a cheap good beer.

you better sit down... Trader Joes.... Mission Street Brown Ale. Yup, TJ makes a Brown Ale now.

I've not bought the other MIssion Street's, well because they were Trader Joes... but when I saw a Brown Ale (my favorite by the way) I had to pick up a bottle.

The price $1.99. Damn right Two buck Chucks is Back and now with a Decent, 1 Pint 6 oz, 5.7% Brown Ale.

Smells like Guiness a bit, lightly carbonated, lot's of chocolate notes, but not heavy at all. Really easy drinking. Reminds me of a lighter Stones 12th Anniversary Ale.

But for 2 bucks, you can't beat it. I might have to pick up a case next time I'm in as they always discontinue the good stuff I pick up.
