I have a pair of 21oz. IH 634s, sz. 30 x 34, that I bought not realizing the size measurements were mixed up! I'm a 34-36 x 30. :(

Welp, they're gorgeous, I've only tried them on once. Anyone up for a trade? Was hoping for a pair of 21oz'ers, but I'll take anything interesting in my size- PBJ, IH. Throw it at me! Also, happy to sell. CONUS!

IH-526L-V2

I recently purchased this jacket and it's awesome.  I gave it a hot soak  and hope all the shrink is out.  It took some time to break in, it's really heavy duty.  I'm getting used to the extra length in the sleeves and in the body, kind of annoying though.  The hand and inner pockets are a nice touch add add more every day utility.  My previous jacket was 15 oz. Samurai S0552XX and I'm a bit surprised how much more heavy duty this is.  I look forward to see the progress of this and try to wear it as much before it gets hotter in the summer.

Does anyone know if the 888 has larger thighs than a 634...  I love my 634s but could use a bit less thigh and more rise.   .I’m always looking for longer rises but not a lifters cut. Thanks

Thigh is larger in the 888 cut. They nickname it their lifters cut

That's not quite accurate... I think there's a misconception that the thighs were supposed top be bigger than the 634, partially because so many guys were hoping/wishing/asking they would be bigger.

This is from Giles on the IH forum, from January 2017, when he announced that he was working on a new cut, before it was named the 888. I don't understand why some guys have dubbed this the lifter's cut. He never intended the thighs to be bigger than the 634.

  • "It's a 634 with higher rise and more taper...."

The first lot of 888S had thigh measurements that were smaller than he originally planned (smaller than 634s), but they sold so well he decided to keep that measurement as standard. A lot of guys were unhappy about that, but many more were very pleased. The 888-NT & 888-UHR (same exact jeans but different patches) had thigh measurements as originally spec'd (close to 634S). I was one of those guys hoping for bigger thighs, but the NT measurements are fine for me. I backed out of the 888S because of the smaller thighs, and I had committed to a pair of NT's and didn't want two pairs of nearly identical indigo denims.

Just compare measurements of IH's size charts. Thigh measurements for size 34: 634S - 13.3; 888S - 12.9; 888-NT/UHR - 13.4

@kbuzz - maybe look into the BB cut. As understand it, and I don't own a pair, the BB has a higher rise and slimmer thigh than the 634.

Hi, big fan of the Iron Heart outlet store, which have made their denim more accessible to me so a big thank you. Here are my first Iron Heart pair - 1955 UHR that I have been working on for a while, I did a couple of bath soaks but I always felt they were a bit too roomy in the thigh area. Recently I did a proper hot machine soak and they came out perfect and I thanks to the cold weather they have been my go to denim since. They are super soft and comfortable but have stretched out quite a lot so I may give them another month or so before giving them another hot soak:

Waiting in the wings are 2 other purchases I have also obtained from the outlet store, the first is the IH-634-DD a duck canvas, I don't know too much about them apart from when I googled the fades they look very intense. I'm thinking whether to cuff or stuck these because of the fading potential. The material itself is very rigid, I'm trying to tell them who the boss is but it might take a few months!

The last purchase - IHxB01xRAW (18oz) have a great feel to them, much more texture to them then the 1955 and a much more of a slim cut too. I've soaked them and I am hoping they will give more stretch in the thigh as they on the border of being a little too tight. I read in the Iron Heart forum that they were going to become extinct, I guess they weren't very popular? But if they give a little bit in the leg (and I manage to loose a little myself), I will be really happy with these, as from what I've seen they have great fade potential:

Post-wash fit pics, wash #8, I think... they are still shrinking slightly. After a wash I think they fit a bit better. Thy stretch out after some wear and are not quite as big on me as they were after the first couple of washes. Cuffed this time, to show a better look, IMO.

Well not sure how well these photos will turn out since I have to size them down so much. But here are my 634sii with one initial hot soak since around March something and not daily wear but pretty consistent wear.

Thinking of picking up a pair of 301s this weekend: whats the general consensus on shrinkage/stretching and sizing? Looking for a slimmer fit and want to nail the fit dead on..thanks ahead of time!

The 21oz stretches a ton, not sure about the other denim types Self Edge offers in the 301 fit.

I sized down on mine and am glad I did.
