Agreed. The worst is when the company uses the same muzak channel or something like that and you're able to tell the time by what terrible song is on.

we get kim carnes, jj geils band, Phil Collins, Whitney, shit like that.

it's like dredging through a tragic 40-year-old's CD collection. There's a gem every now and then, but most of it makes me want to scream.

if and when I change the station, it last an hour at max before the boss swings it back to 'all the hits from the 80s, 90s, and today'.

man, cats should not front on 80s and early 90s R&B and pop.

coming in the form of hall and oates (thanks, the state)

coming in the form of michael mcdonald

coming in the form of james taylor

coming in the form of anita baker

coming in the form of michael jackson

and all the rest i mentioned before.

this is good stuff, man. a lot of it is the foundation for today's r&b and hip hop.

Bill Withers- "Give Me the Beat Boys" might be my least favorite song of all time. I'm glad my part time stint at publxi is over because it seemed to come one at least twice per shift.

hell yeah. WAFB is one of the greatest achievements in music history.

another good, but not great song is "takin' it to the streets."

i missed the days when a grey-haired white dude could sing about "taking it to the streets." things were different back then.

michael mcdonald is gangsta as hell, but i'd put my money on Fitty over michael mcdonald in open gang warfare any day.

i'm pretty sure michael mcdonald could beat the shit out of soulja boy, though.

but, you're right. were are the soulful/gangsta white boys?

back in the day, we had:

michael mcdonald (probably the most soulful white man ever)

joe cocker

bobby caldwell

tom jones

men like this were called, "soul-honkies."

oh where or where have all the soul-honkies gone?
