Quick fit pic of TSG SGJ50J, size 42, raw. From SE. Will be a good fit when it shrinks. I'm gonna be cautious, and do a short cold hand wash, hang dry, to see how much it shrinks. If it shrinks 1/2 size it''l be good, but much more and it might be too small, even for my taste, lol.

Crazy cool denim, without being obnoxious or gimmicky. Great construction and details. Big pockets are awesome. planning to take some detail pics in raw state. Very happy to have some TSG back in my life B)

Great looking raw denim jacket from Strike Gold indeed mkupas

I would leave it raw for a long time to see the natural aging progress of this hairy beast!!

I washed my SGJ50J, cold wash, short gentle cycle, hang dry, ironed. After it was dry the denim was so stiff, I felt it needed ironing so the denim would relax and hang and fit better. It's a very nice, very cool jacket, but I find the fit... strange... maybe I'm just not used to it, as this is my first Type II. It's very short, shorter than I expected. What I find most strange is the taper from chest to waist, which is straight and quite severe, even for my taste. It's almost too tight at the waist to button, but it seems fashionable to leave the bottom button unbuttoned anyway. Now I'm waiting until spring to wear it.

Raw and post-wash measurements:

Shoulders, straight across: 19.0 - 18.25

Length: 26.375 - 25.25

Chest: 23.0 - 22.0

Waist, mid-way down: 21.5 - 20.5

Opening: 20.0 - 19.0

Sleeve, f/ shoulder seam: 26.75 - 25.5

Cuff: 5.5 - 5.25

@mpukas solid jacket, fabric looks very interesting, fit looks good...

FWIW all my denim jackets come in quite a bit at the waist - most from around 23 pit to pit to 20 or sub 20 waist.  It means I stick pretty much to tucked tops which imo helps with the fit, especially when the shorter lengths are factored in.  I also think they hang better with the bottom button unbuttoned.

I'd say the shorter lengths take a bit of time to get used.  However I now struggle with longer jackets.  For instance, I much favour my CSF type 1 with 23 chest/23 length, over my Samurai type 2 with 23 chest/25-26 length which doesn't get much wear these days.  I don't have a strict repro type 2 yet but would expect the SG comes in a bit longer.

Hopefully you'll settle into it as it'll be good to see how the jacket and denim evolve.

Hate to double post but I’m going to try my best to post after every wash/notable change in color.

Washed again this past weekend right after a hem. Bright blues coming through, combs haven’t shifted in the slightest so I’m expecting some striking contrast.

I purchased the Self Edge Strike Gold Wavy tapered and they fit perfectly... before a soak.

Any suggestions on getting the minimum amount of shrinkage? Thinking a cold 30 minute will have to do.

There's just no room to go any tighter so im thinking I'm gonna have to take whatever shrinkage I get, then wear em/stretch back out as much as possible

As you’ve posted the same thing in at least 3 different threads now, I’m guessing you’re living up to your username and starting to stress. That’s where we come in!

Do it the old-fashioned way and wear them in the bath, they can’t shrink any smaller than you are whilst you have them on.

^ Unfortunately, I bought the biggest size they had.

Update to my sizing issue:

I decided to wear them for a bit, to stretch them out as much as possible. I'll do the first cold soak about a month in (not worried about anything moving), but I've worn them everyday for about 10 days or so now. First couple were rough but not even 2 weeks in and I'm glad I stayed the course. They've stretched quite a bit already and fit great.

This denim is crazy abrasive, already seeing that electric blue starting to come out in spots

Hey Guys, I decided to do my first machine wash on my old pair of SG 3109. I had posted pics of them on reddit a while back but with more wear and the machine wash, I feel like there was more indigo loss and so it "pops" more. They have about 1yr 8 mos. of wear with about 6 washes. They were retired a while back after I stopped working in wilderness and gained some thighs, but these served me as my daily drives throughout College.

What's the consensus on the most unique denim to TSG regarding their "core" denim? I'm heading to Japan later this year, and I have a hit list of brands I would like to purchase, Strike Gold being up there. I have owned the 21XX and 51XX denim, but my style is leaning towards the XX03 fit nowadays so it does cancel out some of the denim types (31XX unfortunately, 50XX, 81XX, 99XX). The mud-dyed (beige?) of the 21XX fades always look so good to me. The 51XX looks very reminiscent of the SE x Imperial 14s. Then again, the 71XX has this almost pixelated look when worn in. I think I'm leaning towards the 2103 but got plenty of time to think about it, wondering if anyone has some recent evos on any of the above?

Their mud-dyed denim is really cool..

If I had to venture out from the more conventional denims on the market it'd probably be at the top of my list
